How Old Are You???

This last week I have felt “ VERY AGED”, and am very  slowly recovering to full mobility. Tonight it is Hugh’s turn to struggle with back pain, so with sleep abandoned for some time, I turned to “ Ugly Hedgehog” for some evening entertainment.

One member sent in this link.Simply enter your birth dates, and it will tell you in days or years  your age and the day of the week you were born.

Last night the sky had the most glorious colours, but in an instant they were gone, and I missed the best part. The deeper golden glow had faded and in a few moments was gone completely.

I think of all those in Colorado with the severe devastating flooding, and wonder if they see the sky at night, and sun in the daytime, and how they all are.I cannot imagine the scope of this disaster, and know from my blog friends that repairs to roads, let alone homes and businesses, will take months, and for some, years. A lifetime of memories, belongings, and a family home gone in an instant.

And naturally my thoughts are with “ Team New Zealand” and all others in San Francisco, as we are into the maybe final stages of

“ America’s Cup”.

Excitement, sheer panic, dismay at  a loss, disgust at Tweets, and hopes that all crews stay safe, and  show good sportsmanship, as we wait for the next races on Wednesday.

I'm told that age is just mind over matter - if you don't mind, it doesn't matter. However! Feeling for you and Hugh. It seems you both always have so many things you want to do. It must be frustrating on a lot of levels. Praying for peace for you.

Thanks Georgia, Laurie, Carol and Susan, slowly is the way for us both, but I am truly heaps better, Laurie, missed you, hope all is Ok, and you are back with some stunning stitchery,: Carol, both my Mum and Dad had wonderful ways with words, the internet and laptop world would have been so good for them both, likewise my Bernina machine and camera. Susan too many days, and Georgia, as ever your prayers are a blessing down here. I thank you all for words of comfort and support and so much more, specially as I think surgery may well be the answer for Hugh. Greetings to all, hope up North... way up North, the rain has stopped, Jean.

My husband knows exactly how you're feeling, and I could see him age as he recovered from his surgeries this past year. I hope you mend as well as he has!!!

My prayers are also with all those in Colorado--Mother Nature can be so beautiful, but so cruel too.

Hi Jean, We're watching the America's Cup as I write this (we recorded it). Can't believe how fast those catamarans go! We are fine in Breckenridge (just wet), but from the Front Range to the Plains of CO, there is devastation. The flooding is being called an event that only happens every 1000 years. Hope Hugh feels better soon and glad that you're recovering.

Sending prayers on your behalf...and a warm hug from me. Your photos are lovely.

Barb, scary stuff with mesh between your feet and that rushing water.I vary between expectation, dismay, being totally scared, and then a sigh of huge relief. Hugh is nearly always better each afternoon, he sat on the ride-on mower today. Dr on Thursday, just hope we do not miss a race!!!And your flooding, we are getting TV coverage here, so hard to imagine or even believe. Linda, thanks for all your lovely thoughts and words, as always prayers and hugs do warm my heart. Cheers to all, Jean.

Get Well Soon, both of you.

Thanks for that fun link, Jean, hope you don't mind but I've written about it on our caravan blog, just for fun.

My invariable answer to my granddaughters was, "As old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth" until one day, little miss smarty pants asked again - and followed it up with - and none of that nonsense grandma about your tongue and your teeth!! It's how you feel, isn't it Jean - and here's to many more good days, love and light to you always.

Well,I can't blame old age for my back issues because I was born with a deformed spine. I guess I will just go with the mind over matter plan and celebrate the better days.

Thanks J,J, and J, Jenny you are so welcome to the link, there was another one but not so good. Julie, Hugh too was born with a spinal problem, I think 2 discs are missing so the vertebrae are fused together at some part, and June, I am determined to " Feel Younger than my age" every day. Lovely cheering words from everyone, so to you all, many, many thanks. Jean.

Age is just a number they say! Well, my number is getting quite high!
I like the softness of the sky after sunset, nice shots!

Jean, so happy to hear that you are slowly but surely coming back to full mobility!! Happy to see you are keeping yourself occupied and good luck to NZ in the America's Cup!!!
Regards to Hugh.

Yes, Karen age is only a number, I do so wish mine was on the lower end of the scale!! Jim, we are hoping so much for tomorrow, the crew, and safe sailing. Both getting better every day, lovely sunshine here, about 20C now, after a -1C frost at 6 a.m. Yes, I was up then, I am a true early bird. Greetings to all at your place, Jean.

Most days I feel just about my age or younger, but some days....twice that. So sorry you were having one of the latter; hope you're feeling more revived now!

Nicky said...

So sorry to hear you've not been well, hope you're both on the improve now.

Hi Ashling and Nicky, I am definitely on the way to full improvement, Hugh still at the bottom end of the list, Doctor on Monday. Thanks for all encouraging words, so much appreciated. Cheers Jean.
