The Rough Metal Road

Ally was the one bright spot in  MY   .. ( our)   day out.We left the tar sealed road  and travelled onto a narrower sealed road, that disintegrated to a rough, very narrow, metal, then dirt track. At one stage, I got out and walked, and waited for Hugh to return.  It was a bit like this, photo courtesy of the internet.

Do you think I have no sense of adventure, or   should I sit tight, hang on, and say nothing!!!

We drove down another track, found Ally, did a photo shoot, the best part of the day!!! ( in my opinion) Then off to find the river, have some lunch, and make our way home.

The road to the river

The narrow winding road

I walked!!!

This is where I walked!!!

The bush took over the track, no room  to turn, and Hugh had to reverse a long way.

Quotation of the day, author unknown

“ As  you  travel through life , do not avoid the rough roads,

careful driving will get you past the  difficult patches

to green pastures ahead”

Hallelujah for the green pastures and the cute puppies. I think you have the sense to know when to walk to your adventure!

Wow, what an adventure. Looks like a 4-wheeler is needed there. The river scene is pretty. A great quote! Happy Sunday and have a great week ahead!

That Hugh has an adventurous spirit! I'd have walked, too!

Well good to know I am not the only one who gets out and walks when I think the road is a mite too dangerous. Always feel safer when my feet are touching the ground. LOL!

I remember one time while touring outback Australia, the track was so bad that I got out walked too!
That's a pretty river.

Robin joined the local 4WD club several years ago and we went out on lots of adventures up and down hills, but always with club members. Hope you are safe there on your own, and don't let Hugh cross any rivers by himself!

What a pity I didn't get a photo of the very worst part, the first photo with the blue ute is courtesy of the internet, no doubt in US somewhere, but the track was so like that. And, am I glad that some of you as well do WALK... I don't feel quite so much a chicken now. Cheers to all, Jean.

Can't say as I blame you. That is a rough looking road. Be safe.

I would have gotten out too. Tossing around on rough roads is harder on passengers than the driver. It does look nice though : )

I remember my friend with her hubby deciding to get our of the truck when he decided to drive across the frozen pond. When he went through the ice she was able to capture it on video and we all watched it at the store, laughing and laughing. Yes he got out okay and was even able to later pull the truck out and take it to the scrap yard.

Janet, I would laugh too, just a pity when I did walk at the worst part, my camera was still in the wagon, Hugh no doubt thought I was not much of a good sport( or sort) to walk!!!Cheers, Jean.

That's exactly what I do. When the forest road gets too rough, I hop out and walk. Or, if it'll be a long way, I take my bike out and ride.

Beautiful photos!!!!!!!!

So I guess this isn't the spot you want to camp after the rough ride in and back!?

Boy! You were out there in the bush alright, Jean! And all the different types of road surface to deal with. Both 'Scouts' I see!!
Great photos by the way!

Update on the rough road!!! A friend called in last night, to see if we had been away. Hugh told him about our day out, and when I described the road, and where I got out, Hugh ADMITTED, that it was really bad, he had to straddle the ruts, and if it had been wet, he would have been in deep ....!!! And it was so bad he had to keep on driving to the place where he could turn round, too difficult to try and reverse. Now, why do I feel so much better about walking??And, he says it was worse than in the top photo off the net!!! I'm not going there ever again. Cheers to all, Jean.
