Views from the Fence Lines

I am ever hopeful that when I see a suitable photography subject or landscape, there is a place to stop. Country roads offer lots of places, and  often you need to climb up  a bank, clamber though long grass, or hop over puddles. All in the day’s fun.

Some fence lines to link up with Tex at Run*A*Roundranch.

I’m not sure where the sheep was, not one of ours, or our neighbours.

Through the fence

These  were taken on the road between Taihape and Napier, almost on what is called “ The Central Plateau”

Farmland in the Central Plateau

The fence line on the drive to Napier

This was taken in November 2012, from our own back fence, in early evening.

Through the fence

Quotation of the day, from Cole Porter and Robert Fletcher

Oh give me the land, lots of land
Under starry skies above
Don't fence me in
Let me ride through the wide open
Country that I love
Don't fence me in
Let me be by myself in the evening breeze
Listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please
Don't fence me in

Greetings from Jean

That is one "oldie" I still sing!
Looking around my neighborhood I'd say fences are better than concrete block walls.

I especially love the photo with the sheep. Did you have fenced in animals at one time...maybe sheep?

Jean, what a free spirit you are! there is no fencing you in I can see!
Love that tune!
My, you live in such a beautiful area....all that space to explore! No wonder Hugh always liked to get away and do his thing!!

What a cut sheep there....is it a Merino?

Jim, the info straight from the sheep's Dad. She is a Suffolk breed, having fine wool, shorn only once a year, unless crossed with a Romney, then twice a year is needed. Not ours, but the next neighbour along.Hugh is doing a lot better, less pain, off crutches, and can drive again!!! Cheers, Jean.

Hi!
It was a great happening to meet the elks. Yes they have to hunt them. Its a population of 120 and 60 have to be shoot. Otherwise they will be to many and cant get enough of food and eat tree plants like our moose. They only shoot calves, and Young bucks . They serve every week some dish at their hotel from elk. They want to get people to know how hunting is done and that its necessary. Meat dont come by itself in your supermarket.
It was really one of my highlights I ever been to.
Now its time here in Sweden to go to bed. :-)

Beautiful views. The one from your back yard captures the colors so perfectly. And ya gotta love a sheepie face!

I love the expression on the sheep's face, it would be fun to know what he was thinking. You seem to live in a place of very big skies. It must be spectacular at night. The song was fun, it was playing in my head as I read. I didn't realize it was by Cole Porter.
