The Wind Blew, and overnight all the leaves fell

Last night there were gale winds in Northland and Auckland, and further south severe flooding. We escaped it all, just wind and some rain here. The Weeping Silver Pear Tree has lost almost every leaf, but more white blossoms have bloomed this morning. The Scarlet Oak is, also, showing two tiniest patches of a few leaves, the rest are brown and piled up on the lawn.

Rhododendrons have bloomed gloriously, deep pink and shining red.

The fire is lit, and happiness is  coffee ,a good book and fireside warmth.

Quotation of the day, from Percy Bysshe Shelley

O, wind, if winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Greetings from Jean

We've had wind as well as thunderstorms are moving across the area. No fires needed though.

Love those flowers hanging n for dear life! I also have to admit that I appreciate garden trees that drop their leaves all at once (That being said by the kid who's job it was to rake the lawn on the edge of a forest>)

Those Rhododendrons look great. Yes, it did rain and blow here over the last couple of days.

I am not sure I have heard of Rhodes blooming in the fall. All ones on the coastal areas around Canada and the States that I have seen bloom only in the spring. What added color they must bring to the fall. Well my dear stay warm and time to start snuggling up with a good book or crafts again. May Gods blessing always be a part of your life.
Hugs Carrie

Isn't it a good thought that 'spring' is around the corner and the cycle continues. We need fall and winter with all its beauty to balance our appreciation for life and nature.
Great photos Jean!

I had no idea that rhododendrons could bloom in the winter! They're beautiful.

Enjoy the cozy time by the fire. It's one of the best parts of winter.

I love your words and your photos.........I assume, you are going into fall.......or winter there? We are getting into the summer and this year we have had a lot of rain and tolerable temperature. Stay warm and enjoy your coffee and book!
