Life through a lens

When I started my blog way back in 2011, with the “Bags for Japan” project I had no idea how it would go. Slowly, I received comments,  and gradually I found other blogs to follow. I cannot truly remember how I found each one of you, my very real friends, but here we are some 4 years later, I have found so many interests that amaze me, as I do not have a dog, a horse, or a farm. But every day I read of your family life, travels, trips to other countries or in your own, and know how much this has added to my life. This week I had a heart-warming email from Julie, you can find her here,  at
 My Quilt Diary.
As I read her words, these ones came to mind. They are in a page in my Dad’s autograph album, (have you one of these), and I found this on the internet.
Life is mostly froth and bubble
On the home front, I have upgraded to Windows 10, and all smooth sailing so far. My gift voucher from Sew Sisters, after I finished the Wiggle-me-sew-along quilt top in the allotted time,  I chose charm packs of Kaffee Fassett, and they are on the way.Photos as soon as they arrive, and a pattern is (sort of) decided.
Down south, snow is predicted to sea level,  Metservice details courtesy of the internet , Accuweather earlier gave data of temperature of –1C, real feel of –12Celsius,Too cold for  those new born lambs.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Tomorrow
Showers, with snow to near sea level at first, gradually easing and snow levels lifting. Strong or gale southwesterlies easing. Issued: 11:22am 6 Sep 6°CHigh4°C Overnight --------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have had hail here, the warrior Boris played with some, then one hailstone flicked him on his ear, and a rapid retreat to the safety of indoors.
Quotation of the day, from Eli  Khamarov
“ The best things in life are unexpected ----
because there were no expectations”

Hmmm, I noticed a spelling mistake, edited it, and the font, size and layout has all changed...Will I keep the original font of Papyrus, or change to anything anyone likes better? Comments are welcome and so appreciated, as always.

it is an interesting font. guess windows 10 is making its presence felt. :)

hail storm. yikes! yes, life in blogland is a neat thing - how we form bonds with folks all over the world. i miss being able to blog and visit daily, but life must change sometimes. :)

So hard to keep remembering the reverse of seasons for you and me. We need to move into autumn and you (and the lambs) need to move into spring. I can't remember how we "met" but it must have been through Julie. Boris the Brave frightened by a piece of ice is a funny picture.

Don't like that four-letter word, SNOW! Or that other four-letter word, HAIL! Not looking forward to the first and the later pretty much finished off the garden early in August. Of course, Mother Nature does as she pleases and we have to deal with it.

I love reading what you are up to. You have been a very busy lady of late and especially with the traveling and the quilting. Stay warm in that chilly weather there. Carol

I hate when that happens...when you make a mistake and edit it, only expecting the actual correction you make to occur and everything changes. The only font I use on my blog is Verdana, because it is my favourite and I find it to be the easiest to read, but this is just my opinion. The font you are using now is easily read, though, Jean. :)

Hi Jean, I agree that meeting new friends the world over and learning to know them through their blogs is very special. I'm wondering what you'll be creating next. Hope your weather soon moves toward spring as ours is changing rapidly to fall. Hope you and Hugh are feeling well.

I too love the people you meet through blogging. I have had complete strangers come up to me when out and about around town that have been following my blog. So funny to meet someone that finds my little ramblings interesting? enjoyable? Hailstones you say?? No thanks, we have had a cold wind and the odd shower of rain up here, and I think we a re due for it to fall apart soon looking at the sky.

I like the quote that was in your Father's album. I do remember as a child having an autograph album-sure a long time ago!
I can see your fur ball in my mind wondering just what hit him, funny to watch though.
So another quilt will be soon in the works again...
Have you decided on a pattern yet? As Fall is soon upon us here I am wondering what sewing projects I might want to work on this winter. You can inspire me with yours!!

First of all, I am so glad that windows 10 worked for you. I am still having frustrations since returning to 7.
I never imagined when my son created my blog that it would be a gateway to so many friendships.
As for font ... I have seen some lovely print that others do but have no idea how it is done, Computers make me feel like Boris in a hail storm ... I want to run the other way.
Thanks for sharing your dad's words.

Snow and hail for you! Heat, humidity and thunderstorms for us. I'll be glad when cooler weather gets here.

I don't remember how we connected here in blogland, but I'm glad we did.

Blogging friends are like family.

Have a nice upcoming week.

Like you, I appreciate the gift of sharing by bloggers from around the world. It's sort of like the pre-Internet age of pen pals but ramped up a thousand fold in convenience and quality. I could just imagine Boris' rude experience with hail. Looking forward to seeing your next fab quilting creation.

Hello Jean, meeting new friends thru blogging has been a great experience for me. I feel like I am traveling the world. I tried Windows 10 but had to go back to 7. I will try again later. Our weather is still pretty hot here, we are waiting for fall to arrive. I love both of the quotes.
Have a happy day and new week ahead!

Well is it spring yet at your end of the world. Cooler weather has come early for us here. I get to spend a whole 6 days here at the ranch, longest this summer What a strange summer it has been. Even though we have only been here a few days a week the place looks great. Garden has produced better then recent years and flowers still blooming everywhere. Between moving sprinklers and water timers I kept everything green and growing all summer. Work continues at the house in town. I downloaded windows 10 2 weeks ago and things aren't going smoothly for me. At least I found a tempory fix of starting up in safe mode. Hopefully this week I will have time to really investigate how I can fix it for sure. So little time for internet these days. I love the borders you choose for your quilt. Glad to hear Hugh is progressing. With summer coming on you better make sure he doesn't over do it. As for you my dear glad to hear you are still plugging along. You both are will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Maybe one day I will be able to return to the blogging world. Sending hugs Carrie

What a difference in hemispheres! We have a heat wave and it is terribly uncomfortable. It's been 30 C. for a week. I wanted to bring in some wood, to the shed, but it's so hot I feel sick!
Kids are off to school tomorrow. It's very tough when it is that hot.

Good the computer stuff worked for you! My cat has cracked my mouse pad. I'm due for another one this year. With interest rates so low, we might as well borrow the money!

You take care! So glad things are on the upswing with you and yours! xx

Blogging certainly opens up one's eyes to the world, Jean.
Will be interesting to see what you ordered....we have number of Kaffee Fasset's books. What a talented man he is.
I like that quote.
Hope the weather is more spring-like for you soon.

Blogging does open up the world. It's amazing sharing life and thoughts with others around the globe. It sounds like winter has not quite finished for you. I'm still holding on to summer, and soon the temperatures are going back up to 90ºF, after we have cooled to winter temperatures in our house for a while. I hope spring weather will stay for you soon.

I'm smiling at the image of warrior Boris retreating from the sting of hail. We all have to learn as we grow up. Snow will be in our future all too soon in Colorado. It rarely snows in Victoria, British Columbia, where we are now; but Canadian fall is definitely in the air. Terry is off to explore playing pickle ball here, while I'm catching up n my blogging ~ off to the Royal BD Museum which I joined yesterday. It's literally out my back door! My life has been enriched by discovering blogging too, Jean! I love the wonderful people I've met around the world, including you! Have a great day!
