This and That, and No Stash at all

I looked at my last post and was dismayed. way too long since I wrote some words. Gardens, life, fabric selections and cats intervened.

The pumpkins and leaves  were made, with help from Boris, the next instalment  arrived with details to make a table topper, from  Carole , you can find her here.          From My Carolina Home

Pumpkins and leaves

So I looked at all my pale batiks, nothing there. I looked at the LQS shelves, last Friday nothing there. Today was to be the day for “SHOPPING’

Max after his breakfast

My schedule was all sorted,a bit of this and that,

Hugh went off to fly his plane, but then there was the cat

Max was really very  ill, so first catch him,  and hold him tight

I’m not sure, but think he didn’t have strength to fight

One injection, then some paste,  the wallet was quite hurt!!

Home again,  and realise, no fabric would be bought !!!

So not a fat quarter,  a scrap, a metre or a yard

This was a day when it was all just way too hard.

I need sashing for those blocks, to fit round pumpkins and  a leaf

Pale blue or cream will do I think, with orange in between.

So that’s my story for today, it ends with skies so grey

Tomorrow a different story ,the rain is on its way.

This was some of the batik stash a while ago, and all that is left is the  green on the middle left  and top right, with a New Zealand  Fern leaf motif on it.

Choice of Batiks

Hugh’s cousin and I are thinking of getting a ruler foot each,  for our Bernina machines, and some quilting rulers, after seeing how much easier it makes the FMQ. The one we need isn’t available in New Zealand yet, so are trying to find where they are available overseas. #72, will fit  both our machines. I see they should be available in the last quarter of the year, we are there now, so hope for news very soon.

Quotation  of the day, author unknown

“  True friends are like threads in a special fabric,

tightly interwoven to give beauty

and to last forever”

Greetings from Jean

That's a lovely lot of pumpkins, Jean, you have been busy.

Poor Max, what is wrong that he is so ill?

And aren't you a clever person, writing a poem at the drop of a hat! I've written a few over the years, and they take me ages!

Hello Jean, I like the pumpkins. Very cute! Boris is looking handsome. I hope Max is feeling better! Great quote!
Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!

I sure hope Max is feeling much better.

Your pumpkins are gorgeous and I can hardly wait to see this all put together. Sorry you weren't able to get your fabric when you wanted to, maybe the right fabric wasn't there that day, but will be when you go to shop now. :-)

We have had gray skies and wind for over a week now. A little rain, which we do need more of. It is still warm and humid, had a couple of cool nights, but the a.c. is back on.

Have a good week dear Jean ~ Love & hugs ~ FlowerLady

What a day, Jean. Sometimes we have those days that never go as planned. I bet your quilt will turn out just fine with the scraps that you have. I sure hope your kitty gets better soon.

Somehow when you have your day all planned something always comes along to throw a monkey wrench into those plans. I can't say how many times that happened when I was still working at the library!

Handsome kitty....hope he is feeling better.

Oh I do hope Max is feeling a little better now, are more visits to the vet on the cards? Your pumpkins (fabric of course) are the best I have ever seen, they're beautiful!! I was interested to read about the ruler foot, I have thought bout these now and again so I shall be watching what happens with yours.

Poor Max! I do hope that he feels better soon! I also hope that Hugh was off on a fun flight. And you, I can see, are busy as always, Jean. I love the art you create with fabrics. Wishing you a chance to get shopping for some more lovely fabrics! Take care, my friend!

Thank you all for lovely words. Max has cat flu, and I am hoping will get well again. Hugh's plane is a model plane, with a transmitter. Lots of practise on the simulator program, a bit like how real pilots learn to fly maybe. The pumpkins are languishing for lack of sashing fabric!!

I love your poem.
Cats can be a pain, especially when sick.
A woman, I'm on Twitter with her, lives nearby. Her dog got Lyme Disease and has been really sick. So sad.
Happy to read a post! I know that when you are silent here, you are busy there! Good for you!

Very cute pumpkins! I have tried the new ruler foot for the Bernina machines and it is really great. My shop only had one for a demo but I am on the list for when they get more in.

Those pumpkins and leaves are gorgeous! I absolutely love those batiks. Poor Max :( I do hope he is okay, he is a beauty with all that fluffy fur. I do hope you can locate a ruler foot. Rulers make quilting so much easier.

well, it's certainly nice to find you. Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog of diamonds. A fellow writer, pet person, and quilter! I like that mix! You found me just after my poodle is gone but he was my muse. I'm going to look around some here. I like those fall blocks so much. LeeAnna at not afraid of color

Hi Jean, you are so clever with a rhyming poem in your post which I appreciated. The pumpkins are adorable and a real hit. Sick pets are no fun but hopefully Max is well again and you have had a chance to do some more fabric shopping. Lovely quote.

I forgot to say before that Boris looks awesome in this photo. It looks like he has an actual lion's ruff going on.

oops, this is the one you linked up, lol! Love the Pumpkins! The trick when linking up a blog post is to click on your post title and that will give you the direct link to the post. If not all you link is your blog home page, which is better than nothing, but makes it hard for readers to find the actual post. Thanks for linking up with Let's S.E.W. Jean! Have a great week.
