Mission Impossible. Hooray.

If you have been watching the news, the success of the cave rescue was a truly international effort.Today I found that one of our New Zealand divers was also there.  This cartoon signifies so much, and the  translation, the details of each animal, and the angel seal for  Saman Gunan, his widow says “ you are the hero  in my heart”.

Aruni Aunhawarakorn and Jantima Manasviyoungkul are two sisters who live in Bangkok.

  • Ever since they heard the news that 12 Thai boys and their soccer coach were trapped in a flooded cave, the two had been thinking about illustrating something for the situation, they told BuzzFeed News.

"Our pens didn't start working until the first boy was successfully rescued from the cave," they said. They decided to draw a cartoon to show the Thai people's appreciation of the support they received from people around the world. They shared their cartoon on their Facebook page Sunday night, not expecting it to go viral. It was then shared more than 15,000 times overnight."It is unbelievable," they said. "There are so many comments from so many countries. We're so glad to hear they love it."

It was then shared more than 15,000 times overnight.

"It is unbelievable," they said. "There are so many comments from so many countries. We're so glad to hear they love it."

"The 13 footballers are represented as the little wild boars," they said. "There was tons of kindness flowing in from many countries and specialist teams so we wanted to present all of them symbolically."
  • Here is a list of what each animal represents:

* The white elephant: former Chiang Rai governor Narongsak Osatanakorn, who led the rescue operation

* The wild boars: the boys and their coach

* The seals: the Thai Navy SEALs

* The frogs: the world-class divers involved in the mission

* The white horse: all of the heroes who have been involved in the mission

* The lion: rescuers from England

* The kangaroo: rescuers from Australia

* The moose: rescuers from Sweden

* The dog: the K9 unit

* The brown elephant: rescuers from Laos

* The tiger: rescuers from China

* The dragon: the water-pumping and drilling teams

* The crane: rescuers from Japan

* The swallows: climbers from Libong, Thailand

* The Iron Man: Elon Musk

* The eagle: rescuers from the US

* The birds: reporters

* The single crow: bad comments and obstacles

And this is a banner at the High School where some of the boys are pupils. Those words in English will probably be the most welcome words they will ever hear.

So between following the rescue, watching the tennis at Wimbledon, and sewing for friends and family,  and planning my project for “ The 12 days of Christmas in July”, there hasn’t been much time for a post. The green Bear for July is finished, and  some merino sewing to go to Tasmania is almost finished, .

Keep watching the blog hop for 12 days, my day is the finale on the 25th. I should have all the details each day, and there will be some fantastic Christmas goodies and projects for you to do, save, or share. Giveaways too.

Quotation of the day, author unknown

“ Work together, all nations and people,

and you can achieve the impossible”

Greetings from Jean

SUCH an amazing effort - I was following it too, praying so hard for those boys and all the rescuers, especially after the Thai SEAL lost his life. Love to see everyone coming together for a good outcome!!!

How marvelous. Yes, we were also following the progress closely. There is no end to the courage of the rescuers. They made a miracle happen.

I think there is a lesson here for the world about working together for a common good. Children are our future. Stuck in a cave, fleeing war or famine, or abuse,... we need to all work together to make their futures secure and show how important it is to really CARE.

You missed the beaver, for the Canadian rescuers.
We have been following this with the rest of the world.

Kate, maybe when I copied the list the beaver was not included, He is there, on the middle left side. We had one NZ man there, but there isn't a kiwi, but so many of the others who were included are incorporated in the white horse. I will go back to the original page and find the beaver, A sad omission by me. A friend and I say we will never see the likes of a rescue like this in our lifetime, she will be 86 very soon, and I will be 78, and I hope a rescue like this is not needed again.

Dear Jean, thanks so much for sharing this delightful cartoon/art rendering of the rescue that touched all os us throughout the world. This young boys so good-willed and so trusting and those Thai seals with so much expertise and determination and the leader who let the world know what was happening. Thank you for the cartoon. I'm not much of a Facebook user so I missed it.

The quotation is so apt. If and when we work together, we can achieve what seems impossible. I'm so hoping that in November many, many, many of the US citizens will get out and vote and change Congress so that this administration can no longer dictate what our democracy will be. Peace.

Once these girls' pens started working, they did an incredible job! Thank you so much for sharing this. Seeing the moose of Sweden brought tears to my eyes. I didn't know they were there too. And the sign about English is amazing. I read that the boy who spoke it, speaks five languages. So glad all this came to such a good end.

I will watch for your Christmas post. Your comment the other day on my blog about LOOK what the world did when it cooperated is something I hold onto in my heart in these worrisome and depressing days. Thank you. And thanks for sharing all this other good info. There was a Canadian diver involved as well, from BC :-) so it was great listening to his take on the team effort. The world held its breath didn't it? Love and compassion won. And it WILL win.

Thank you for sharing the cartoon, Jean. I had not seen it during all the coverage of the Thai Boys Cave Rescue. What an amazing outcome to a riveting event. I think the Thai coach who was with them and kept them strong until they were rescued was heroic. As a retired teacher I couldn't help but imagine what he did and went through to keep those boys alive until they were rescued.
