Many family groups stay at Piropiro campground, wide grassy areas, metal roads, and an area of pumice, called “ the sandpit” by little guys. Jacob and Luke were on holiday with their Poppa, and enjoyed some fun on the small quad bike. It has a safety device, a cord with a loop going over the wrist, and if you fall off, this stops the motor. Thanks Wayne, and back at home, Adam and Sophie, your turn next time maybe.
Jacob, having a great time. He rode round, until some trees in the background looked better than dry grass. . Ta so much, Jacob, great photo.
Luke waited for his turn, and really looked the part on the quad. Ta Luke, great photo.
Dogs came and went, mostly in their crates on the back of a Ute, tied onto the deck, or better still, inside a 4WD, out of the dust . Ella,a 6 year old German Shepherd, sat quietly, blending into the dry brown grass. Brown grass everywhere, even under the trees.
The birds stayed well hidden, families of quail scuttled across the grass to a shady spot down by the water pipe, too fast to get a photo.
When Debbie called with our Census Papers, on 5th March, I was further down the camping area, these stunning colours there for such a short time. Nature in perfection.

Hi Di hi
Great photos. Thanks for sharing.
German shepherd looks like a nice dog.
Our Neighbours have one. She came to visit the chooks a few evenings ago. The chooks were not happy!!! Thankfully they were safe in their little house!
Cheers
Linda
Linda, all the dogs there were so well behaved, owners very thankful when lost ones were found. And others very willing to get the dog out of the car/wagon/ute or truck for a photo shoot!!! Not so good for your chookies!!! Just as well they were all in bed by that time. Cheers from Jean.
Indeed they are, Jean! Holidays are the brightest coloured memories, aren't they! This looks to be a grand spot to spend a few weeks.
As the old adage goes, 'a change is as good as a rest'.
Lovely photos too and that sunset may have been brief but look at those colours!!
It looks like it may have been dry there with the brown grasses. Typical summer I guess.
The sunset ends you day with such beauty after having so much fun with the kids and quads.
Ah the life!
Ron
Jim, Sophie and Ron, a great place for little boys to have fun, free camping, lots of open space and metal roads, and yes, those fleeting moments of sky colours, that are just asking to be looked at.This summer has been the dryest for over 70 years, and many places have been declared officially " Drought regions".Brown grass is everywhere, not much green at all. Cheers from Jean.
