This little birdie sat on the grass, then hopped to my waterproof rug, bright pink side up, fleecy and comforting. rested a while, hopped again, snuggled up by my knee, then sat on my sneaker. ( sorry about the dirty look, they are my gardening shoes!!) Shortly afterwards, he hopped back to the grass, and then went to a safe place under a tree with lots of low overhanging branches. I’m sure his Mum was near.

How beautiful, Jean, and what a blessing! Such a darling little bird.
Another great set of pictures! You are getting to be quite the animal photographer! No animals come close enough to me for me to photograph them (except for cats.)
He/she was, Linda. But I was happy to see it hop away. Guess I was there for well over 30 minutes, maybe he thought I was the Mum!!! Cheers, Jean.
Adorable baby sparrow, lovely photos.. Wishing you a very Happy Healthy New Year!
What a sweetie.
Oh dear Jean ~ What a truly delightful post! Thank you for sharing.
Have a great weekend and a wonderful 2014 ~ FlowerLady
The little bird is so lovely!
so very, very sweet!
Baby birds are so precious.
What sweet pictures!
He is so lovely. I hope he found a mother and a house.
Greetings
Babies are so cute whether they are human or have fur or feathers.
A sweet visitor, Jean! Happy New Year to you and Hugh. I like seeing your green, too! Mary said it was cool and rainy in Wanaka on Christmas Day.
So sweet...
I wonder if he'll stick around for you to watch as he grows..
How awesome! What a little cutie!
Thanks all, for lovely words. He/she has gone, no chirping so guess he found his Mum. All others down in the Maternity Wing are " Doing Well" in hospital jargon. Mrs Thrush has to perch on the very edge of her nest at times, her babies are getting quite big. On the other side, Mrs Blackbird still has 3 very tiny, almost naked babies, guess in time they will get down and feathers too. I try not to get too close, as don't want to scar off a Mum at this stage. Greetings to all, Jean. Barb, quite cool down on the farm near Lawrence too on Christmas Day.
Adorable little fellow. Happy New Year!
That has just GOT to be a good omen. If nothing else, it knew you had a gentle soul. What a treat.
What a sweetie Jean! Imagine....so tame and yet so young. Did it fall out of it's nest? Great photos too!!
Oh you little birdies are growing. They are so at the gangly stage. HOw cute.
