Today Hugh and I went to a Garden Festival in Feilding, about 20 minutes from home. Lots and lots of stalls, some in tents, others in huge marquees, plants, soaps, candles, brass items, bamboo pillows, stoneware pots and pans, nick-nacks, necklaces and bags, planters in stone concrete and pottery, cane baskets, and much more.
We came home with 7 stunning flax plants, I’m still deciding where they will go in the garden. The late afternoon sky had some clouds, in the West, and a sliver of a the moon in the East. Do you know, the same Moon shines in the North for all my friends up there, as it does down here. Just a small piece of unnecessary information for everyone !!!

Thanks Eileen, I could have come home with a trailer full, but we just had the station wagon..Just as well, would have been a heavy load on the wallet. Yes, the skies have had that red/pink/purple tinge lately, signs of cooler temperatures. Have a great weekend to you too. Cheers,Jean.

How pretty! I think I need to search for these lovely plants- they would look so pretty in rock garden! I love festivals..but they are so rare in my area.

This is a New Zealand Phormium, "Sundowner" , hardy and evergreen. and OK to plant now. Terri, it would be great in a rock garden and I see at "Village Nurseries" that many varieties of NZ flax are available including this one!! Now, how about that, a little part of NZ over there. Barb, I planted pansies last week, they should flower until at least August, providing we do not get snow like 2011.And, almost a frost this morning, about 2.5 C at the coldest. The fire is going, coffee finished, and maybe get to sew some more blocks today. Cheers to all, Jean.

I am so glad you posted a photo of a flax plant. I have never seen one. Is this where flax seed comes from? The market sounds delightful.
It is an amazing planet we live on, isn't it Jean! We look at the same moon all over this earth of ours.
I really like those flax plants! They wouldn't survive our harsh winters here in Nova Scotia but I can admire them from afar!

There surely was a lot to look at there, the flax plants look great. They wouldn't grow for me here but some people nearer water can grow them. I like the variegation. I think the star constellations you can see are different at least in part, but that's interesting about the moon, I haven't thought about it, whether the view is exactly the same or not. I hope you had a Happy Mother's Day!
It is so cool when the sun and moon are in the sky together. And to think that the same moon is visible here as is there is mind boggling to me. I thought I was on a different planet in Australia. :) Love your flax plants. They are very pretty.
Flax has difficulty growing in our climate so seeing yours just puts a smile on my face. The moon isn't that the best revelation for all time ~~ the same everywhere!
Your visit to the Garden Festival sounds quite lovely so much to see, touch, smell, taste and hear of course.

Great post!! Bobbi's coat is a fleece lined nylon coat. It was the winter that curtailed everything with constant changing temperatures, and ice. Great to hear from you. Take care. Boom, Bobbi and Gary.
