A Host of Golden Daffodils

Wordsworth wrote lovely words, and these are in one of my favourite poems. The King Alfred  daffodils  are slowly blooming, tall stems, and a  blaze of colour in the corner garden.

Golden Daffodils

Life continues,

Did I mention   Hugh progresses with his recovery  slowly, it has been raining, I need to find Batik for the 2 borders for the Wiggle quilt, I  have  one, and the other is in the “ possible” corner.

A very dear friend’s husband died suddenly last  Saturday, I fly to Auckland on Friday, home on Monday.

Did I mention that I HATE flying??? Hugh and Joyce,  with the much appreciated  input from  Norman will man the fort, fuel the fire, feed the cats, and have everything under control when I am away. I am not sure about this quote, maybe  the alternative would suit me fine right now.

Did I mention the best of all this week, I am one of the 5 ladies who finished their wiggle-me-quilt top, and we each will receive a gift voucher . Mine is from  Sew Sisters, have a look at their web site, fabrics for everyone. Sandy at  her wonderful blog site ,           Upstairs Hobby Room

is  the backbone  of this challenge, and her helpful encouragement, words  of praise every day, and photos and entries have been an inspiration for each of us.

$25.00 Gift Certificate

Quotation of the day from Helen Keller

“ Life is either a daring adventure or nothing”

Greetings from Jean

What a joy friends from the other side of the world bring into our days. I'm showing fields of Summer Sunflowers, & I'm enjoying seeing your lovely show of Winter Daffodils.
It's so sad when dear friends pass away.
Take care ~ Barbara

Your 'Host of Golden Daffodils' reminds me that you guys are approaching Spring. Those blooms look so lovely in both their beds and as bouquets. Glad to know Hugh is recovering. Sorry about your friend's husband. A reminder to us all that our lives are limited and very, very precious. I'm sure you will make very good use of that certificate.

Beautiful, Jean! I also hate flying...in fact, so much so that I only took a plane a couple of times in my life; when I as in my 20's, and this was over 30 years ago. :)

I learned to be a better flyer when I had to fly about 3 or 4 times a month for two years for my job. I am so glad Hugh is slowly getting better. Congrats on finishing. There is no way quilting will ever be something I have the patience to do. But I value those who do. Carol

I grew up at the top of a high hill that was forested and among those trees in spring was a carpet of daffodils .. often giving it the nick-name. "Daffodil Hill". No lake in that woods but "beneath the trees, fluttering and dancing in the breeze."
I can't say I am overly fond of flying and my ears hate it.

That was one of the poems we learned in 6th grade. Lovely. After the 11 to 13 hour flights to and from Tokyo I've done, the little puddle jumpers of an hour or two seem like a bus ride. Don't give up on the adventure yet, you've come so far already. Hugs G

Take some deep breaths when you fly. So sorry to hear that your trip is for a friend's funeral. Those spring daffs are lovely inside and out. Glad Hugh is slowly recovering - it was a big surgery. Hope you can relax a bit in Auckland.

I'm so sorry about your friend's husband. I hate to fly too, mainly because it hurts my back so much. I hope that the trip goes smoothly and that Hugh's recovery continues to go well.

My condolences and wishes for a good trip for you, we just lost my husband's cousin's husband. It seems like a stressful time of year. How wonderful that your quilt was a winner! You will have fun choosing your prize materials. Your quilt pattern is inspiring me to maybe try some quilting this winter.

Hi Jean! Doing a little catching up here....
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. You have had a very busy end of winter, eh?
Happy to hear Hugh is recovering and that you have help for him while you are away.
I do not enjoy flying either. Good that you had a nice seat companion and that the pilot was there for you. Sure this doesn't happen all the time if you are the last off the plane? Just asking........lol

That Wordsworth poem was my all time favourite when I was at high school (100years ago) and still is. Love your photographs of the dafs, we share a passion for photography I see.
