A while ago I promised in a comment somewhere that I would post a photo of Hugh and myself in the snow.Just to prove we have actually been to the snow!!
I think it might have been on my birthday in July, we drove up to Turoa skifield, a large skifield on the south western side of Mount Ruapehu, the highest mountain in the North Island of New Zealand, in Tongariro National Park. it was cold, freezing cold. The road was so icy, and I was muffled up so much. This was in 2008!!! and is looking towards the west.

This is taken from the red A Frame, a hut high in the Ruahine Range, looking down towards Dannevirke and further still, the East Coastline, behind all those far hills.Way too far away to see any water, but if you are down there and continue driving, you will arrive at Napier in Hawke Bay. To arrive at this hut, it is definitely a 4WD track, very rough, lots of deep holes, sometimes in winter impassable.
Here is the road in August 2011, I think the quad didn’t go much further than this.
On the home front, I am well, taking life slowly, and trying so hard to tackle ONLY one thing a day!!! Today it was to sew together the blocks for the Midnight Mystery quilt. I have 2 strips done, the last one tomorrow I hope,
Thank you all so much from my heart for your caring words and thoughts… it was scary, but to be truthful I felt so ill I didn’t think about being scared. Just as well, once I knew what they were looking for. We do have a blood pressure monitior at home, and each day since coming home, my BP has been so good, totally back to normal. I see my GP on Thursday, he may have some idea why it happened. Meantime I am thankful for so much.

glad you are doing well. poppy in the tree was too cute. the snow reminds me of my earlier years in wisconsin. :)
So glad to hear that you've stabilized since your scare. I do hope your GP can enlighten you more on why your sudden illness happened. I know you will heed his/her advice.

Sorry for your scary BP incident. Hope all is well. It is funny to see snow in NZ this time of year. Of course we have snow here in Utah during winter, but this time of year I'm always thinking of flowers and greenery when I think of NZ, even though I know you also have snow. I feel it such a blessing to have lived in your beautiful country for 18 months!!

I'm so glad you're OK. Something like that can be scary indeed.
Seems strange to see pictures of snow that were taken in July & August. Do a search for Winter Storm Kayla....we've been in the direct path of that one today. I hope we wake up to sunshine and no wind tomorrow....though it's still howling pretty good now. It's been arranging and rearranging the snowdrifts all day.
I'm glad to hear you are feeling OK, Jean, I hope the quilting deadlines are not a stress. Surely you are in your summer now? The Agapanthus blooms are in such big heads, they are not hardy enough where I live. I am so much looking forward to spring!
Looking at that snowy road makes me itch to go driving on it! I LOVE driving in snow. I'm glad you're feeling better hon, and hope you continue to do so.

It sounds like you're similar to me. I find "taking it easy" to be one of the hardest things in the world!!! I'm glad you're doing it, and I hope your GP can figure it out.
I never knew there was snow there! I loved the photo of Poppy in the tree, amazing. Also glad to know you are heeding the good advice to take it easier.
And mindfully thankful too as we all should be....
We had snow this morning, but it has melted mostly. sort of.. :-)
