University exam results in New Zealand  are now given in Alphabet letters, with the appropriate plus or minus. I am pleased to announce       ( wow,how formal is that?) that we are so proud of Josh, a student at Victoria University, I guess when you sit your exams, the relief  when they are all over, then the wait till you know how well you did. So long since I sat an exam, but I still remember it all so well.

He is having a wonderful holiday and sent me some photos of the bike ride he and Mike did this week . This is the Umukarikari Track, on the eastern side of the Central Plateau.  They rode  to about 1600 m asl. ( 5249 feet), and it was cold  up there. Spectacular scenery, great views across tussock  land to the Central Plateau Mountains.

to another country,

look first at  what your own has to offer”.

Hooray to Josh for completing those finals!
He deserves a fun trip to the mountains.
It sure is rocky terrain, which must make the trip
all the more challenging for both he and Mike.

I bet Josh was glad to have a little vacation. He's biking some rugged territory up there.

Congratulations to your Josh! I remember only too well the angst of exams! When I walked into the exam room in Grade 11 to write my first provincial exam in English Literature, I threw up all over the floor! And I hadn't made it to university yet! At Acadia, the university used to post our marks publicly. Thank God that isn't happening anymore!

It looks like Josh and Mike are having a wonderful trip! Loved your contour map! My first geology lab was drawing a valley cross-section using a contour map. I still remember the thrill of learning how to do that! Still love maps, for sure!

Have a great day, Jean!

Gosh it's a long time since we were down around the Central Plateau, I remember going along the Desert Road when we had a year in Wanganui 1962/63, I love the scenery down there, just spectacular and what a great bike ride for these two!

OH I love that final quote you have. So true. Wow the shots of the mountains peeking up behind the boys are fantastic! Lovely that he shared and that you shared with us, as I always love visiting other countries through blogs. :-)
