On Wednesday I strolled slowly to the mail box, and there it was. An envelope all the way from Kingston, Ontario, Canada!! The 2017 Quilted Kitties Calendar arrived. This is a project to fund-raise for the Lyndhurst Feral Cat Project. I have been an admirer of Cheryl, Kate and their team for some time now, and this year supported their project with the purchase of a calendar .Just a small panic at Kingston, as the post office told her postage to New Zealand would be $72!!!,Some checking up and it was altered to the original charge. Look at these photos of the delightful kitties in all their finery.
And here is the page for December 2017. How delightful is that?
All the pages are designed and quilted by Cheryl. Visit her blog on the link below and see more of her drawings, cookies, and kitties.

This week, I had a short visit to hospital, a fast ride in the ambulance, after having the shakes, believe me ‘twas like an earthquake in my body, then very high blood pressure. Two paramedics and a nurse, Lance didn’t want to stop when I suggested ( not true, just a random thought ) that on the straight stretch of the road I might need a toilet stop !! “ You are out of luck, sunshine” was his reply. As always, the staff in the Emergency Department were so good, I was given the best care, numerous blood tests, and ECG print outs. Transferred to a much better bed with all the buttons to push to get the most comfortable angles, at 11.30 p.m. , and maybe almost asleep when another Dr came in at 12.30 p.m. and told me the second blood test was negative for cardiac enzymes and the chest X-Ray was all clear. Off to sleep, and the night staff started to do rounds at 5 a.m. I am guessing that no-one there has heard the words “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” !! They could not find anything in all those tests to give a positive diagnosis . So maybe there will be a trip to a bigger hospital soon for more extensive tests.
Here are the fabrics from Bryan Gaskin, but I am sure there will be another visit next week before he closes those door for the last time.
top left turquoise and navy are the finest silk, 3 at the right are fine cotton, the others are lovely brights for bags.
Yesterday I made a huge effort, put on some ‘glad rags” and off we went to the Christmas Dinner for members of the Model Plane club Hugh has joined. About 30 there, we met many of them for the first time, and were introduced as “ The Youngest Members”, not sure about the age, but definitely the shortest time there. A wonderful group of friendly men and ladies, but I did find out that there isn’t a lady in the club who flies her own model plane, so I don’t need to be sorry when I decide not to join in.
Quotation of the day, from Jake Bailey
“So be gallant, be great, be gracious,
and be grateful for the opportunities
that you have."
Greetings from Jean

Oh dear! I do hope everything will be alright, Jean. How scary that must have been. The cat calendar is adorable and such a good cause. Bless you for helping them out!
Hugs
Jane
Scary time for you! I think asking to stop at a toilet on the way to hospital is fine, perhaps f you'd been asking to stop at the quilt store.....that might have been a BIG ask! Cute calendar. I hope is well and your little trip to hospital was small glitch in the system.
That was quite a scare you had....and not knowing what caused it really doesn't help, does it? Here's hoping it's just one of those random things that won't be repeated.
Thanks for your words, and I too hope this is a one time glitch. The toilet stop, it was a long straight stretch of road with farmland all round, just a joke as Lance has the hugest sense of humour. Quilting shop, they could have done a small detour up Victoria Ave., in Wanganui on the way.
Hope your tests work out well, and you stay healthy!
Oh dear - you do seem to have had rather a lot of those trips to hospital - hope the outcome is good.
I support Cheryl's group, but my participation is limited to donations to her fund raising efforts.
My little darlings come from another organization, which is better funded than Cheryl's.
Take care of yourself.
Hello, that does sound like a scare time. I hope the test find out what is wrong, sending prayers. The fabrics are pretty. Love the calendar, it is cute. I still can not wrap my head around Christmas. It seems like it snuck up on me.
Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
Sorry that you needed your emergency trip. I hope the reason is found soon and corrected. I bet ambulance personnel hear a lot of funny things from their nervous patients. They could likely write a good book. So nice to see people helping feral cats. Have fun with all that lovely fabric.
Dear, dear Jean ~ What a scare for you and I'm glad they found nothing wrong at this time. You are in my thoughts and prayers ~ FlowerLady
That is a darling calendar, for what sounds like a great cause! I do hope they can figure out what is going on health-wise for you very quickly and with minimal poking and prodding. And I do love love love those lovely prints with the words and stars on them!
Beautiful calendar pic. I think you should surprise the club and fly one of the planes at least once. Carol
Oh dear, so sorry to hear about another visit to the hospital. Important you get the visit in to more extensive test to try and nail the problem. Keep well!!
Jean! What is going on over there? I sure hope you are feeling better.
You will just have to resist these fancy rides with mysterious men, Jean. Ha, ha Are your paramedics like some around here...very fit young men. But seriously, someone needs to get to the bottom of this as much as they seem to be doing their best. Very cute cat quilting for such a good cause, btw. Loved the quote too. Take very good care.
I'm sorry to hear that you have had to have the services of an ambulance! How scary! I hope someone will be able to figure out what happened and that you will be in tip top shape for the holidays! Take care of yourself!
How scary, I am so glad you are are alright!!
I'm working back through your posts to catch up, Jean. You're taking way too many of those rides in the green and yellow vehicle. I'm glad to hear that you are in good hands! The kitty calendar is darling! Quilters are so creative. There is a quilting group here at Riverview RV Resort. If we come again next year, I may check it out. Meanwhile I'm sending you hugs and encouragement from the Mojave Desert!
