May 31st down here, frosts in many places, further south it was –6.6C, then –4C, and the snow has given skiers a taste of a good season ahead.
Green was the colour for May, and true to form Green Ted made his way onto the platform for Capping Ceremony. He is a BSc Graduate, and for Victoria University in Wellington, Empire Blue the hood lining. As this finished quilt will be for a friend’s grand-daughter, and her son is an engineer, I might HAVE to do another Green Ted, with appropriate wording on his book. You might have to click on his photo to read the words.
Purple for June, so the batiks will get sorted again.
A few photos from the archives, in May over several years
Frost on the lawn, 2017.
Max, blissful slumber, 2017
Snow down south, 2013
Tom, 2009. On the Mariner’s Compass, the centre was still to be done.
Toto, 2008
Max, Tom and Toto have all left us now, but memories are always there, and they had much love given, and we received such affection from each of them for the time they lived with us.
Quotation of the day, author unknown.
“ Happiness comes when
you appreciate what you already have”

Memories are certainly always there, and having some lovely photographs to help keep them at mind are very welcome, too. Stay warm; it certainly sounds like winter is approaching for you.
I figure when Nikko leaves, there will be enough hair in the house to last the rest of my life.
Cute bear.
Keep warm - it will be warmer at the weekend but with rain. Actually, I think I prefer cold and dry. The months go by far too quickly for me. I like your photos.
Hello, you have some wonderful memories of your sweet cats. Snow and frost, it must be cold. Stay warm and safe. I love the cute bear. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
Sweet quilting project!
You are starting winter, I am starting summer and hurricane season. Hopefully it will be a quiet one.
Love & hugs ~ FlowerLady
Oh Jean, I'm still laughing at the photo of the Maxx sleeping. It is priceless. Where would our lives be without animals. We're going into Summer, you're going into Winter. Gads what a contrast. Carol
Green Teddy will be a cute and thoughtful memento for your friend's granddaughter, Jean. Your ginger Max certainly was a handsome boy. Last year's frost on your lawn looks so refreshing. Today in my northern patch, it's very hot and muggy and the mosquitos make gardening a challenge. Lovely pics!
You are doing well with your teddies, they all have their own personalities and will make a lovely quilt. It is the 1st day of winter now but we woke to gorgeous blue skies with frost on the ground.
It doesn’t seem five or six months ago that you were complaining of the intense heat and wishing for some of our coolness and now we’re in reverse. Yes memories help keep those you love dear to you forever, right.
Green Teddy is cute with his cap and bright blue eyes. What a nice collection of colorful teddies you have made!
Thank you for sharing the kitty memories, they are beautiful and look so sweet.
Oh my - it really is winter down there! It is hard to believe...
I love Green Ted, and I love the memories of your departed cats. What sweeties.
Dear Jean, thank you for that wonderful quotation. I've kept a gratitude journal for over 25 years now--writing down 5 things each night for which I'm grateful and that helps to keep me in the present and to by grateful for what is in my life and to let go of bemoaning what isn't. I don't do that 100% of the time, but I'm working on it! Peace.
cute green teddy, what fun eyes on him. Your kitties were so cute. Always fun to look back with fondness on the little fur babies.
Hmmm, difficult to imagine -4C in May. It’s 27+C overhere........
Important memories! We're so greatful Hooper is good.

Thanks so much for checking in on our big trip! It was so fun.
Loved Green Ted with his perfect geologist's hammer! Loved all your loved and not forgotten kitties. I surely wish that I could sleep like Max ~ I'm so jealous of how wonderfully cats sleep. Stay warm, my friend!
Hope all is well with you Jean. Haven't seen a post in a bit. Carol
