Our Days Continue as Usual

Thank you all SO much for your loving words, and thoughts. Christchurch is not the same, and for those families, the change is huge. There has been a massive response to the request for Healing Heart Blocks. From all those furthest places to nearby, they are arriving daily.  I have sewn a quilt top in greens, some  other blocks in 4 patch and  multi colours that will be able to alternate heart blocks, and be for the first responders and others who have played a major part, both on that day and since then.

The top with multi coloured hearts was sewn a while ago, waiting for the right time. These will go over to Ashurst this week to add to those already there at Angels in Gumboots.

The Love with a twist from Dione is going along well, they are admittedly still on the baking paper, but are all looking happy.

The alterations for the storage  room and bathroom are going ahead well, today the builder and window men will arrive at 7.30 a.m. Hope it is a little warmer, we were 9C in the sheltered porch earlier. So many choices, lino, wall paint, toilets? How do you choose one of those without looking and trying??? Guess I will just have to be brave and sit on each one in the plumbing store!!! I am not asking Hugh to try before we buy!!!

So I have been a little busy, just not on the blog,  my motivation needs to be boosted. And Sandra over at Musings of a Menopausal Melon is starting a new QAL, I cannot resist as I looked at the stunning Island Batik strips that arrived from Dione. Purples and greens in shades and depth of colour, all I need is the paler background fabric.

Quotation of the day,  from Lewis Carroll

" If you don't know where you are going,
any road will get you there"

Greetings from Jean

Those quilts are wonderful. Glad things are progressing well with the house.

I hope it helps you to make the quilts. Your country lost something valuable, so many human lives, and the knowledge that nothing will be the same again. A loss of innocence and peace. Your quilts will be beautiful and will help the people who receive them feel your love and caring for them.

My, you have been busy.
Yes, go ahead and test out the bathroom fixtures. It is much better than buyers regret. Consider how easy they are to clean, too.

All this hate in the world is just horrific! My heart goes out to all the families in Christchurch, I just do not have the words for this .
Your healing heart quilts are lovely! I love all the shades of green in the heart and 9 patch one, and the bright colorful hearts lift my spirits. All the best. Hugs, Heide

Wonderful quilts with great meaning for a wonderful cause. So much of the news is horrid these days.
Yes, you have much on your plate. It is hard to make all those decisions and can be overwhelming. Good luck with it all and your stitching too of course.

These quilts have such a happy vibe to them, hearts and balloon animals. The light is always stronger than the dark. What a sad time for the people of beautiful Christchurch, my heart is with you.

Oh I'm SO GLAD you're joining in again this year Jean! And batiks again, yay! You have such wonderful colour sense, so it's bound to be stunning. I hope to get some heart blocks off on Monday; have been up to my eyeballs and beyond with other quilty and real life stuff... So terrible, despicable what happened, but kudos to your prime minister for being so proactive, and then for broadcasting the call to prayer and standing united... I am so impressed. We are ONE. Doesn't matter what colour skin we're encased in, what sky daddy (as my husband says) we worship or how we choose to worship, if we even do.... Much love to you, and wonderful balloon twist animals!

I love every quilt I see and thank God there are 'quilters' across the world still honing this treasured craft. Always wished I could be one of them but my patience level is what it should be. My sister creates quilts and is the 'sewer' in our family. Carol

It's so good to hear from you! Your quilt blocks are gorgeous. I am impressed with your country's response to what happened -- the bans on certain kinds of guns. That is a good thing. Sending love to you and Hugh. I hope that the renovations are not too difficult. Have fun in the plumbing store ;) I heard a story of a young boy in a store like that who actually did his business in a toilet on display ;) Poor mother was mortified.

Yes, it was so sad to hear about Christchurch. New Zealand always stands out as being such a peaceful place on this earth. What a shock!

Your quilt tops are bright, and happy, and wonderful, Jean; sewn with love. I'm sure they will be much appreciated by the recipients. You have so much going on. I don't know how you're keeping it together. Be brave. Sit on the toilets. Much to Terry's consternation, I climbed into a tub during a home tour last Monday. How are you going to know if something fits, if you don't give it a try? Terry found an interesting house last night and decided this morning to fly to Vegas and check it out. He'll be gone at least two nights. I say at least, because we have a blizzard arriving about noon tomorrow and it's supposed to last into Thursday. We'll see. Just think how awesome your renovated house will be when all the chaos is behind you! Sending you a shot of energy and a big hug!
