Guess what???

 Hi everyone,

Many thanks for all your good wishes, I have stored them away in a very safe place, as yesterday it was confirmed we had ONE case of the Delta Variant in Auckland , and at 6 p.m. were given the news that all of New Zealand was in Alert Level 4, Auckland and Coromandel for 7 days, the rest for 3 days, but that might all change.

Wellington Hospital has cancelled all elective surgery for today, and flights anywhere in New Zealand are all on hold meantime, you can fly home in the next 48 hours if in another part of NZ.

So I wisely and safely decided to phone and postpone my angiogram, and the booking clerk said it is possible that next week all elective surgery will also be cancelled.

Car rental was refunded, and Air New Zealand give a credit for all air fares.

So we are confined to our homes, essential travel only, i.e. medical appointment or food, I will do a phone conversation with my G.P. and  yesterday did a huge grocery shop, and had a haircut!!!

I think this photo was on the internet, but his cheeky smile and bright tail reminds us all, every cloud has a bright lining, not always silver, but colourful and reassuring.

Hello Jean,

I am sorry about the delay. Covid seems to be never-ending. Love the colorful bird and quote. Take care and stay well!

That was a wise move, Jean. I read about NZ closing down. It really makes sense.
Be well. You are loved! xx

Oh, so sorry you had to postpone, but better safe than sorry. Wonderful that you could cancel travel plans without penalties. Stay well, and hope you can reschedule soon.

As we know, it started off with a single Delta case, and within hours the numbers keep increasing. I'm so pleased our PM is taking this all so seriously, most of the country is behind her in this, just a few idiots out there protesting, hopefully lockdown will stay "short and sharp".
Nice to have a phone chat with you yesterday, Jean. I'm sure your appointment will be rescheduled soon.

I read about the case in New Zealand and knew things would probably get cancelled for you. I hate it, but not to fear. I know the Delta Variant here is changing a lot of things that were set to take place. Lord how I wished this pandemic would slow all the way down and no variations of it would come back. We should pray. Take care Jean. Carol

We did a huge shopping trip today too. New Zealand is smart for locking down at the mention of Covid. Japan is now in a dangerous situation but still the government asks its citizens to "consider staying closer to home." Ridiculous! There are no more hospital beds open!

Oh, Jean, I am so sorry. How frustrating to be caught in the middle of the Covid crisis and a health care procedure. Blessings and wishes for a speedy switch so you can get it done soon!

A belated happy birthday, Jean. I'm not on the computer much since our summer is so short. I try to be outside as much as possible. Sorry to hear NZ is experiencing some Covid cases - stay safe. I hope your procedure can be rescheduled soon.

I think Delta arriving on our shores was inevitable actually, but not good news, waiting to see the 3.OOpm briefing this afternoon. I had wondered what was gong to happen with your Wellington visit.

I read about this happening in New Zealand and immediately thought of you and Jenny. You are so right to stay home and stay safe. That's what we have been doing and even though things are open here now, we are being prudent. This new variant has thrown all plans for a loop.

Oh dear, i hope You (NZ) can control this. This is bad news. We (NL) have had a similar situation and this still is not over. We wish You all the best.

So sorry you had to postpone. My daughter found out today that somebody in by granddaughter’s second grade class tested positive. Klara had a positive antigen test today so they are all on quarantine for 2 weeks

Hi, Jean! I realized with dismay that I hadn't heard from you in weeks. I don't know where my brain has been this summer. It's been such a strange year. So I've caught up on your posts. You've had so much happen in recent weeks. And I understand that the Covid situation in Auckland and thereabouts is not good. I know you have been in a very strict lockdown since this post. It worries me that you had your procedure postponed. I hope that you are doing okay. Hopefully Hugh's shingles episode is well behind him. Please forgive me for being so out of touch. And please take care!

New Zealand seems like a seperate world to us!

Dear Jean, everytime I read one of your postings that reflects what is happening in New Zealand, I shake my head in bemusement, wondering why things are so different here in the United States. For two centuries or more, many citizens of this country have thought that we were "exceptional." That we were manifestly destined to show all other people throughout the world how to live. That continues now despite the fact that in every poll of almost anything, the US ranks low. Now, at 85, I'm wondering how long this republic will last given its excesses. But New Zealand seems so compassionate and reasonable and able to chart a course that builds community. I so admire that.

Hope your test comes soon and that all proves well. Peace.
