One Heart and a New Zealand Mountain

This is  a closer photo, cropped  from the original photo of the Black Powder Rifle, showing the inlaid heart, truly beautiful handwork.

If you look carefully, the initials ,

SKM

can be clearly seen , the S and M curve to meet at the top and lower edge, the K  between them.

The initials of the very fortunate family recipient.

Yes, a true labour of love, worked on  over two years, part  time,  as the regular daily employment allowed.

I have  passed on all very complimentary comments, and suggested he now read  them  for himself.!!!

The Central Plateau, North Island, taken from our friend’s place.Beautiful at all times of the year, in all seasons, but stunning when covered in snow.

Good morning Jean ~ I had to go back a post to see what I missed. What a beautiful rifle, my husband would like that. The detailed work is beautiful and I especially love the heart.

What a beautiful view your friend has.

Have a lovely week ~ FlowerLady

I agree--How beautiful the handiwork is on the rifle and what a treasure.

And what beautiful handiwork of Mother Nature--The Central Plateau is no doubt breathtaking!

This is the view from our friend's A Frame high up in the hills, 7km from the homestead. One track that I walked out last year, after the quad trip in a week earlier.I am truly a level road, calm sea, fine weather sort of girl!! Yes, the handwork on that rifle is superb. I have passed on all wonderful words. Cheers from Jean

I'm wondering if this photo was taken in summer - do the peaks retain snow all summer? Our high peaks have snow year round. My friend is soon leaving Wanaka. She says it's turning cool there.

Nancy J said...

Yes, Barb taken in January 2005, ( Hugh's photo) usually only a little snow left at the top in summer, and will be low down from June to September maybe. Wanaka is colder already , 10 Celsius there right now at 8.24 p.m.,( accuweather) we are colder at 6 Celsius, according to our thermometer, maybe will go lower than 4C tonight.I hope your friend has had a great time, Wanaka is truly wonderful, winter and summer. Greetings from Jean

Cherishing those 'moments in time' is something I know you do Jean. Hope all is well with you and Hugh.
