Moon Views

This week, we had the Winter Solstice,  and also  the Perigee   Moon, shining extra brightly, 30 % brighter and 14% larger . I missed the exact day, but this morning it was still very bright. Here it is in the western sky at 7.30 a.m. The English Elm tree has bare branches, and  the Silver Birch trees stand tall in the centre.Moon in the Morning June 2013 #1

This was the view to the south the other night, under that layer of cloud there is  some  snow, just enough for us to see from the back garden.

Quotation of the day, from Rabindranath Tagore,

“ Clouds  come floating into my life,

no longer to carry rain or usher storm,

but to add colour to my sunset sky”

Greetings from Jean

I was in Denver for the moon and didn't even bother trying to find a place to photograph it. Yours there in NZ was lovely as is your view of it from the property. We have Bob's 90 year old Dad visiting from FL. I must get busy and make supper - scallops tonight - his favorite.

Great photos of the 'Super Moon' as it was called here. It was cloudy here on the night we planned to get some photos of it.
have a good week Jean.

I missed the moon the best night, tried but failed dismally!!! So this morning, out the very minute I spotted it behind the tree. The quote, I might add it to favourite photos for cards, the words seem to be about life and so much else, not just cloud and rain. Greetings to all, Jean.

Thanks so much Brian, the night before a dismal failure, needed telephoto lens, shutter release and tripod, the sky was magical for those few minutes this a.m. the second pic, pity about the power lines, I need to drive up the road and get a better view. Your words so appreciated. Cheers, Jean.
