Quads on the Farm and in the Snow

This is a post for a friend in US, to show him a  “ Rhino and other quads, in working mode. This is in  Otago, South Island, New Zealand, A real farm “workhorse ”, so versatile, better than the quad when it is snowing.Even a comfortable seat for the dog too!!

The Rhino framed

This is as far as they went , snow in the Ruahine Range, August 2011, on a Suzuki Quad, one of Hugh’s photos.

Daring, as he went across the stream to get the firewood

Empty trailer

Too steep, too heavy a load, too little power to get back up the bank!!!

Quad in the stream

Pity Kevin had to tow his own quad out, Hugh  steering it up the bank, thigh waders on just in case!!!

We have these in the States called ATVs. Not a big fan of riding in one but the golf cart type seems fairly safe. Hope all is well with you Jean!

The Rhino is on the farm, the one in the water is Kevin's and the SHINY, SPOTLESSLY CLEAN, one is Hugh's. Kim, we have just 3 acres, and it is used every day, garden clippings, firewood, hook up the winch and pull out stumps and dead shrubs, yes here they can be called ATV as well, Carol, but I HATE sitting on one, it is OK if I am driving!!but Hugh goes along the beach, by himself, up metal roads, farm tracks, snow, mud and slush, and guess what... I stay home, happy as anything. and Kim, you would use it too I'm sure.. When is your birthday??? Greetings to all, Jean.

Great post Jean, we couldn't do without our 4-wheelers. They are great workhorses and never let us down....

Coming back up that stream bank looked very challenging! Those quads do look like great workhorses.

Yes, KB, a bit exciting, Kevin towed, with Hugh's quad, Hugh sat on Kevin's quad, I watched. A quad is great, even on our smallish area here, I like to drive it on LEVEL land only, get the heebie jeebies if it is a slope, a hill, or boggy and rough, guess I'm not an adventurer after all. Cheers, Jean.
