Where did the trail of petals lead?

Jennifer of Cottage Country Reflection, here, asked me to post some flower photos. I ventured out in the cold wind late this afternoon. Some deep purple lupins, a hosta with large leaves that delicate shade of almost turquoise, and a tall foxglove.

White rhododendron

This white Rhododendron has enormous flowers, blowing off in the wind. It is at the very front of the lawn. Later on, after dinner, a shower, and with Jamas and dressing gown on, I looked out to see a trail of blossom curving a pathway over the lawn. Blown, maybe, to where the lawn was mown in the curve. Or was it the path laid out for the fairies to visit, and play under those flowers? This was 8.43 p.m.  a freezing wind coming from Tongariro, Ohakune, or straight off the snow there.I wondered if our nearby neighbours saw the crazy lady out there, walking to a different place, to get the best view!!!

A trail of Rhodo flowers leading to the tree.

I hope these bring some floral brightness to all friends in the North, Jennifer, it will be a long time till our fish pond freezes over.

Lovely flower photos, but haven't we had too much wind! I'm heartily sick of it blowing so hard day after day. When will it stop, I wonder.

Yes, they did brighten up my day. Just beautiful.

I'm so happy you posted them for me! They are beautiful, aren't they, flowers?

We have a snowy day. The goldfish pond is frozen. The cats are a bit miffed about it all. It is dark, cold and gray.
I did enjoy helping out at day hospice, though. I felt useful. They needed a volunteer.

Hi Jean,

I'm busy establishing a garden here but it'll be much smaller - I only have 357 square metres to fill. I've decided that's big enough for me to manage. I'm happy to have moved back here, but there's been sadness with the loss of my beloved Cressy after Labour Weekend. Frodo and I miss her so much. I'm hoping to get another Standard poodle girl but want a black one this time so have to wait for a suitable litter. Take care,

Shirley

Funny how those rhodo blossoms formed in an arc like that. Great shot

The blossom trail on your grass is wonderful, Jean. I just love Foxglove. I keep planting them but have not had luck with them coming back. So, you're having some cool weather there?

My goodness, you have stunning photography. If you still have any of these blooms today, oh, am I jealous! My foxglove never bloomed this year, so it was a real treat to see yours!

Beautiful flowers! The only flower like things we have around now are frost encrusted branches.

I am a wee bit confused with the descriptions showing all the gorgeous flowers etc and then you talk about snow and cold winds. This is summer isn't it?
Please help a northern clime feller out!!

First, to reply to Ron, the snow is on the Central Plateau Mountains, and when the wind blows from the North, we get the cold air. But down south, and that is in Otago, at the far end of the South Island, there was snow to 400m last week. And yes, we are officially in summer, but have had rain, hail, cold winds, and almost a frost, all in the last 10 days!!! HaHa, summer, where are you?? To all others, as always, thank you so much for your lovely words, I do so appreciate them, but don't manage to reply to everyone. Hugh is continuing to have severe back pain, and sometimes in a hip as well, crutches, a disability parking card( what a blessing this is), and medication galore. So if I haven't left a comment on your blogs, I will have read them, taken in all your weather up North, the snow!! adventures home and away, family stories, quilting progress, tales of a day on the farm, and then the Monday to Friday photos, I love them all. Need I tell you, dear friends, you brighten my day like no other, each one of you. Fond greetings, Jean.
