This year there was another fantastic Quilt Along, By The Sea. We received a block each week, then after 4 blocks, had a link up party. The talented designers gave us some wonderful ideas along with their own colours, and now the grand finale has arrived. I have sailed up to the line at the last minute, rain today, more tomorrow so the photo is a little dark. My editing skills on the Macbook need some serious practice.
However, here is my rendition, with a look back at my Dad and his boat he built, " Lady Grae" a link to my Mum as her name was Grace but she was so often called Grae, the four corner blocks with ferns, reminding me of the NZ fern logo so many of our sports people have on their uniforms, and the outer border, it reminded me of the Northern Lights, so a link to all my friends in the North
Quotation of the day
"Never leave anything until the last minute, that might be too late"
Greetings from Jean

Hello Jean
What a beautiful quilt, I love the theme By the Sea. Each block is a lovely picture telling a story. I love the quote, but isn't good to at least show up even if it is at the last minute. Take care, have a happy new week!
You did a wonderful job with the QAL; I love your story behind it..
I was in a 'funk' when this project started and joined in just to get my quilting mojo back - but not reading all the details - I made the first four blocks and then joined them into a quilt top. THEN realized that there were more blocks to come. But it was ok... I got my mojo back and was able to get on to other projects, so the QAL did what I needed it to.
Lovely, and so neat that you can associate a memory with the blocks.
Jean, that's just beautiful. You are so talented and I'm so happy to have your owl on my wall. I look at it and think of you so far away.
It is simply a gorgeous quilt. I love every block of it. Especially the boat. Have a wonderful day Jean. Hope you are doing well. Carol
Didn't you do well! So nice that you incorporated such wonderful memories in this quilt top.
You did a fabulous job! I love that it is a tribute too, to your Dad and the boat he built. And, also a tribute to your mother, who the boat was named after.
Congratulations on a beautiful result from the QAL especially with the memories you've incorporated within the different blocks.
I have never taken part in a quilt along so don't know much about how it works. Your results are quite nice and I like that window setting too.
Of course I absolutely love your quilt. Great theme and outstanding designs. So glad that you are busy with projects like this one.
Oh, I do love your quilt!💖
My goodness, this is just lovely!! I love the story of your dad and mom in the quilt! You are quite the talented quilter!
Oh my, you are so talented. I love love love your quilt!
I'm behind in my blog reading, so I just wanted to say I am so sorry about Moxy. I know he will be missed.
I love your quilt...you are so talented! Have a great week!
Jean, your quilt is lovely! Fun setting, attic windows. Thanks for sharing your memories too.
Wow! What a beauty! What an accomplishment! That is a gorgeous quilt! You should be so proud!
I guess I missed this post! Gosh, I can't tell you how tired I am!
People age 63 turning 64 shouldn't be full time parents!!!
Dropping by to wish you all Happy Holidays from eastern Canada. Been too long! Cheers and hugs!

Thank you all for those encouraging and caring comments. Ron and Jim, I need to hop to Hugh's Facebook page and catch up with all your news.
You are a talented, artistic quilter, Jean. I tried to pick a favorite square, but I couldn't. I like how each square looks like a 3-D box ~ So clever. It took a second glance for me to see the 3-D effect, glance because I caught the effect out of the corner of my eye. Have a great day!
