Unity, loyalty, standing together.

This morning I watched the inauguration ceremony of the 46th President of the United States of America,

A ceremony like no other,  Joe Biden,  a speech from his heart, Kamala Harris sworn in as Vice President, previous presidents in attendance, a cold raw morning as roads were closed, National Guards by the thousands keeping watch, the temperature dropping, snow hovering,  our reporter Anna Burns Francis reporting from a distance.

I hope so much that this will be the start of a peaceful country for all my friends in the North, the end of riots,  racial discrimination, shootings, and you can all have days with safety, security, and much more . that should be the right of every person.

8 Celsius there, we have the same or less down here,  but with a warm heart I wish all of you in US happiness, safety, good health and more as the start of the next 4 years unfolds.

Quotation of the day,

" Lend a helping hand, accept a helping hand"

Greetings from Jean

Thank you, Nancy. I hope that as well but suspect there are long, hard days ahead for us still.

Hear, hear, thing can only get better in USA surely. We also watched on TV, set the alarm clock for 5.30am so we wouldn't miss anything! We are a day ahead over here, so its Thursday.
So pleased it all went smoothly without any protesters trying to take over this I portent ceremony. And our PM Jacinda has already sent congratulations to the new President.

Many thanks for your kind words about the USA. Personally, I feel much calmer that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are our new President and Vice President.

I'm so glad you were able to watch. It has been quite a day and think we are going in the right direction.

My heart is lighter this morning, as I felt my country take a collective breath and exhale. Thanks to the powers of prayer and our republic, we have integrity and high moral standard, decency and trust back in our leadership. May we find a way forward to honesty and character again.

Thank you, Jean. I feel hopeful. However, I know that the deep divides will not be healed overnight. Our new president and vice-president are the right leaders to try to heal the country.

Thank you, Nancy. It is a welcome change. I have never felt such dislike for the way our country was being led and the way we behaved. So glad there will be a kinder, gentler US.

It was cold here this morning while watching the Inauguration (12° I think) but warmed up later. Thank you so much for your call.

Thank you Jean! I am so happy to see Biden as president now, he is an honest and decent man. I think highly of both Biden and Harris. They are a great team.
He got to work right away, reversing a lot of bad policies done by the previous administration. I may not agree with everything, but I feel we have the right person in charge now. Take care, have a happy day!

The world is a better and safer place with the wise and experienced new U.S. administration. What a unique and talented ceremony! Love that quote, Jean. I still have to work on the 'accepting a hand' part. Too independent by nature.

Thank you, Jean for thinking of us and caring about what happens here. I don't believe our country can fully heal until the racial issues that have kept us back for generations are resolved and healed. I'm always shocked, even after living here since 1962, about how much hatred there is among people here. The Americans I know are the best, kindest, caring, most helpful people. And then I see those that took over our Capitol, the rage and hate, and I don't see how we can get to the other side of that.

It would be so nice if ALL quilt bloggers kept politics out of their blogs, out of their discussions. For those of the other party whatever you may say will be found offensive. No matter who we are we all have opinions, and there are times to keep quiet about such controversial ones, as politics is increasingly to be so.

Thank you , my blog friends, for your kind comments, as a New Zealander I care about the USA situation.
In a reply to QuiltGranma, I am not always a quilt blogger, but have varied and many interests, and if I choose to comment on the election results and the inauguration ceremony, that is my choice. You do not have to read my words, on whatever subject I may have posted. I may well have posted when our own Prime Minister was chosen, and I do not think ONE New Zealander commented on my words. I cannot reply to you privately, as there is no link to your email address.

Thank you Jean. I love you sentiments and I echo them. If only our country could become one again. I don't know how we are going to do that, but I know it's going to take some work.

Thank you, Jean. There is much to pray for in the USA.

Dear Jean, thank you for your good wishes for the United States. I live in the middle of the country, where the plains start and then climb up into the Rockies and down again toward the west coastal area bounded by the Pacific. The inauguration took place in Washington, D. C. which is close to the eastern coastal area bounded by the Atlantic. And so, as the song says, "from sea to shining sea" so many of us are praying for President Biden, a man of great sincerity, as you noted, and we are hoping that the seemingly insurmountable problems he's been left with, after centuries of racial discrimination and four years of the lies of the previous president, will yield to his wisdom and good intention and his concern for all people. Peace.

Thanks, Jean! I am hopeful for the future of our country, but still somewhat worried about the crazies out there. I loved the Inauguration, not only that it occurred without incident, but also because it was uplifting. So beautiful! Never did I think the US would be experiencing what it is. Meanwhile I'm getting my first Covid shot on Sunday with the second scheduled three weeks later. Woo Hoo! I hope all goes well with you and Hugh!

What a sad comment from QuiltGranma. I've been scolded from commenting on politics in reply to a blog post. I was told I couldn't disagree with them. I love good discussions. sigh.

I missed this post, as my blogroll shows the latest first. I've been a tad preoccupied, too! :-)
Cheers from here!
