X-Rays and CT Scans

The last week has seen me laid low, intense pain in my ribs and round the back at armpit level. Finally after one day and night of it overtaking anything I had before, rang the trusty ambulance crew. They were in total agreement, off to hospital, after putting in an IV line, and dosing me up with Fentanyl and anti nausea meds. Blood pressure was too high,  but not because of any heart trouble.

Admitted overnight after a chest X-Ray,  more pain relief that only just reduced it a  little, Monday morning,  thought I would be on my way home, then an unexpected  sentence, " You are off for a CT scan", thought it would just be for my kidneys, but when the DR came back, said he was very relieved to tell me the Aorta was fine,, no ballooning and diameter was normal also my kidneys were good as well.P hew, what a relief, as in the scanner, I thought it was targeting more than kidney level, back and forth, hold your breath, breath normally lots of times,  maybe they didn't want to tell me until the results came in.

The diagnosis as this moment is that I have shingles., the DR could see one

" vesicle'  and today maybe  there are 2 more..

So if I don't leave any comments, it isn't that I haven't read and kept up with all your news, just too painful to use my right hand and arm .

And as I think no post is OK without at least one photo, here is the Begonia keeping Moxy's grave company.

Quotation of the day from J M Barrie

" Not in doing what you like,
but in liking what you do
is the secret to happiness"

Shingles are better than heart problems. Feel better soon!

Yes, better than heart problems but I understand they are extremely painful. I hope you get better fast and this doesn't affect the cataract op.

Hello,
Shingles is bad but I am glad it is not a problem with your heart.
I hope you feel better soon! Take care, sending well wishes.

Shingles can be awful, but at least the pain is not your heart or aorta. Take care of yourself, no need to respond. Gentle hugs to you!

There is a medication, which if taken within 5 days, helps lessen the shingles "attack". Hopefully your medical system has provided that. I had a minor attack years ago,so I understand your initial confusion as to cause and the pain. Absolutely no fun and I hope for a speedy recovery for you.

Oh! I'm so sorry you're going through all this pain, Jean. My husband had shingles last year, but fortunately he had a very mild case. The good news is that once you have them you rarely get them the second time. Take good care of yourself!

Hugs
Jane

I'm glad they thoroughly checked everything out and that your heart and kidneys are good. I hope that you feel better soon!

Oh my goodness, shingles! I had heard this condition was very painful, but I imagined the pain was o the skin surface, not inside the body. So pleased it was not heart related, but still it must have been such a scare for you to end up in hospital again. Take care, and hope you now have relief from the painful symptoms.

There are anti-virals which help reduce the pain and shorten the amount of time the misery lasts.Hopefully your medical establishment can provide one of these to you.
I had a minor outbreak some years ago and it was very unpleasant.

Shingles is much worse than Chickenpox...it's wonderful that now there is a chickenpox vaccine to protect people from getting shingles when they are older.

I hope you are feeling better very soon

Take care of yourself Jean. This can't be anywhere near comfortable. I had the vaccine a couple of years back hoping to ward off this nasty malady. My DH had it while he was in college and talks of how painful it was for him. Best to you and hopefully a swift recovery. Sandi
