Valentine’s Day in New Zealand

February 14th 2013.

A special day  for  so many, as they celebrate love, happiness, past and future, and lots more.Enjoy the day, if it is today, hope you had a wonderful day, if it was yesterday.

The peony  is known as the flower of riches and honour. They embody romance and prosperity, and are regarded as an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage.

Red roses may be traditional, but very costly on the day,

One bouquet, 24 red roses, nicely arranged, NZ $ 350.00

I  am very happy to have my own  peony photos with special memories to accompany them.

Happy Valentine's Day

Quotation of the day  from Kahlil Gibran, abridged.

“ Yesterday is but today’s memory and tomorrow is today’s dream”

Greetings from Jean

Thanks Horst, the flowers were for Hugh and me from our younger daughter and partner, for a special occasion, with a little Picasa editing, I was having some fun. They like cold winters, so maybe too warm here for them to grow really well.Your climate should suit them very well indeed !! Greetings from Jean

Thanks Susan.a bit like any other day , but on TV 1, the breakfast episode was great, the lovely man from NZ Fire Service proposed live, his lovely lady accepted, courtesy of Michael Hill Jeweller, a beautiful diamond ring and cash, then they rode off into the sunrise on his motorbike, ( he won the competition) Truly, the "stuff" fairytales are made of.here we had great weather, I achieved a lot of sewing, Hugh did some great gardening, all in all, a pretty good day. Greetings from Jean.

We had a huge peony bush in our yard when I was a child. I loved those flowers. I haven't seen one for 40 years. Happy Valentine's day.

Peonies are lovely. I can hardly believe the cost of roses there in your part of the world. WOW.

It was raining here yesterday so I didn't even think of going out to pick a bouquet of anything. I do have some yellow roses in the kitchen that a friend brought me on Sunday so I wasn't without flowers on the day, and orchids are in bloom in the scullery window.

Have a wonderful weekend ~ FlowerLady

cough cough cough $350 for roses. We brought a fruit tree and that wasn't really for Valentines day as we don't get into the commercialism
LOVE the Peony's

Thank you all, our Valentine's Day went well, no problems, no "Silver Coach" for either of us, and nothing in the way of chocolates or flowers, work in the garden, some sewing, and sunshine, Perfect all round. Greetings from Jean

I hope that you had a lovely day. We had a snowstorm that make life a bit more difficult than usual. But, no big deal, it was still a great day!
