A New Arrival in the Back Paddock

Mother ewe and one lamb

This afternoon I heard one ewe calling, in our neighbour’s paddock.

Look what I found!!  One little lamb and her Mum.

There was a cold southerly wind blowing, , so I’m sure they will find a sheltered warm place tonight. in a dip, or with some hay, cuddled together.

The winter garden does not have many flowers, until the bulbs are in flower. The Protea looks stunning, in bud or full bloom.

Protea buds

Protea nerifolia

At the front garden, a lime green conifer brightens and lightens , against the darker green, and the bare Silver Birch trees.

“ If winter comes, can spring be far behind?”

Great to see the lambs. Our temperatures are finally warming, and are now veering to hot summer. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

Weren`t you just showing us snow a day or two ago? And now spring has sprung!!!

One lamb is indeed usually a sign of spring, but colder days are still to come, the snow photos were about 1000 km, or 820 miles south of where we live. Each day shows a different sky, and I hope for a red sky in the morning. Greetings to all, Jean.

It seems early for lambs - they seem to be earlier every year. Lovely photos.

Wonderful photos of your world, Jean. Your landscape is stunning. I used Manuka honey in a recipe today - I thought of you.

Cute lamb, hope the weather didn't get too cold for the new baby...

Nicky, we have had some rain, but overnight not too freezing.I think it was a few weeks old, so should be hardy enough, and they have been shifted to a very sheltered place in another paddock. Guess it's a bit cold down your way. Cheers from Jean
