Breakfast on the Patio

This morning, the sun shone, the wind was a gentle breeze, coffee on the outdoor steps the perfect spot to start the day.

We had company, the sparrows, thrush and blackbirds swooped down to enjoy their meal too. One male blackbird became a little braver, and made his way out of the shadows onto the open lawn.Found his meal, and flew off. We will no doubt see him again tomorrow.

Father Blackbird #4

Father Blackbird #5, all done, I'm on my way

Quotation of the day, from Robert Lynd

There is nothing in which the birds differ more from man than the way in which they can build and yet leave a landscape as it was before.

Greetings from Jean

Update on the rough road!!! A friend called in last night, to see if we had been away. Hugh told him about our day out, and when I described the road, and where I got out, Hugh ADMITTED, that it was really bad, he had to straddle the ruts, and if it had been wet, he would have been in deep ....!!! And it was so bad he had to keep on driving to the place where he could turn round, too difficult to try and reverse. Now, why do I feel so much better about walking??And, he says it was worse than in the top photo off the net!!! I'm not going there ever again. Cheers to all, Jean.
I left this on the previous post, but wonder if it is better here, at least I feel so much better,.. now the MAN has admitted to the roughness!!!

A lovely visitor - I completely understand your getting out of the vehicle and think I would, most likely, have got out a lot sooner.

We're having a cold rainy spell, the tail of the the storm that wreaked havoc in Atlanta, etc. Looking forward to having weather like you've got soon. To another man, Hugh sounded brave for pushing through the rough terrain I suppose!:-)

Good Morning Jean! I just caught up. Would not want to drive on some of those roads, especially if you could not turn around! Ally is such a cutie! And an earthquake? All kinds of action down there! Hope all is well at the moment...beautiful photos!

You have reminded me that, one day, it will be warm and sunny enough to drink my morning coffee on the deck. That is a blissful thought. It sounded like your morning was so peaceful.
