Design walls for small blocks

Last week I sent Julie a small parcel, she thought it would be only the 6 inch ruler. But there were some small blocks, a piece of NZ fabric, and a small design wall, well really a tiny design sheet. I tried it first to make sure it would work, it did. Here it is on trial. I sat it outside in a gentle breeze, and they stayed put. Success!!! Now the parcel has arrived, and I received the loveliest email from Julie, I can post this.

So then I thought, I needed one here, so Richard at  Leader and Watt in Marton very kindly gave me some foam board sheets, , two  I left in the original size, one I cut in half, taped them to white thick cardboard for more support,  covered the front with batting,  hot glue gunned that, then made a sort of pillowslip cover, with white flannel on the front. Progress is underway.

I had some trouble with the lighting, and none of the blocks looks straight at all. but these boards/walls/ mini size,  might work well for me, rather than a larger one against the wall.

Firewood is next on the list, another 6 trees felled yesterday, a video to be edited soon.

Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.

P.S. My wood is all stacked for the year. I bring it to the house in bits. That is manageable!

My wife, the quilter, uses a design wall all the time. I made it out of rigid foam insulation against the wall, and she covered it with fabric. Six feet by eight, it seems to be essential for her.

That mini design wall is great. I'm loving those owl blocks. Are they the start of a new project?

Now I see what you were telling me about. Neat little design walls.

I love my mini design wall and have used it already. I had been thinking of making some panels like a Japanese folding screen and covering them with flannel. I could probably store them behind the sofa when not in use. The thing is to figure out where to set them when they ARE in use.

Have a great weekend!

What a thoughtful gift for Julie! Space is such an issue and I'm sure a certain dog might breath hard on an unsecured work. Great Idea!

I love your mini design wall idea. I often times lay out a few blocks then have to move them all closer to my machine. I am going to make one of these so they are easier to transport from the floor to the table :-).
