Tonight there was that fleeting glimpse of stunning colour in the sky to the West. It does not last long, and then all that is left is the darker night.
One day I want to be somewhere on the main Highway, high up where there are no trees, just the vast landscape below. But for now, these are what we see on calm, fine nights from our place.
This is what I see from the front lawn. Tall view with the sun very low, just a glow of yellow at the bottom.
The wide view, from almost the same spot.
I walked round to the garden, and the light had changed so much, Gone were the crimson, red, and almost orange colours, and it was grey/blue with the yellow almost a paler lemon colour now .This is taken looking over the fence at our back boundary, the pine tree is our neighbour’s.
To all my friends who celebrate Thanksgiving on 22nd November, have a wonderful day, enjoy the celebration, and the food, give thanks for families, life and friends . And from our place. I give many thanks to you all for your friendship, your blogs that have made my life so much richer, your comments and emails. My Celebration is also with thanks.
Quotation of the day from Ben Johnson, 1573-1637
“ Suns, that set,may rise again; But if once we lose this light,
‘Tis with us perpetual night”

What beautiful photos, my friend! I know you're not celebrating Thanksgiving where you are this week, but I am definitely thankful for you. So glad our paths crossed!

Kat, me too, so good to have friends all over the world, and Willard, your words are indeed ,music to my ears, as your photos are always superb!! Greetings from Jean
Beautiful colours in the sky!
Thanks Janet, I can see you will be very busy with the blogathon, a great idea, and so many are involved, I have had more blogs to look at this week from up your way, and they are all great, with photos of quilts, works, the land and yes, the skies too. Greetings from Jean.
Beautiful skies you show us...we had some sun this afternoon , it was a while since we had that....
Lindsjo, hope you do get more sun and Tyra is better, when is your next competition, is the weather ever too bad with snow or so cold you cannot go out ?? Greetings from Jean
The skies are absolutely beautiful. I am on the wrong side of the mountain for the morning sunrise, but I do see a bit of the evening sunset. Down in town the skies are stunning.
Gayle, your skies are always so different to ours, I enjoy every photo .Your daylight hours are so much less now, on Wunderground I can see my favourite places' weather, snow report, wind chill, day and night highs and lows!!!...and daylight hours and more, airport reports as well. A great site.Do you get morning sun early in the summertime?Did you know there are 27 listed weather stations, and tomorrow you will have -19, and -22C !! Fond greetings to all at your place, wrap up tight, keep warm if possible, travel carefully, and I wait for the next installment of any news. xxx Jean.
Such pretty photos! It is amazing how the sky can change from day to day. I love the way the trees look as well! Have a wonderful week ahead!
I understand what you mean re: standing on a hill and view a sunset this way. Our backyard is surrounded in trees so sunsets slip in and slip out. We live 5 minutes from a huge hill and go there a lot to sit and soak up the view. Your sunsets are so beautiful especially now that he warm breezes filter them for you. Have a great day Jean...and smiles!
Ron and Sophie!
Thanks Sophie and Ron, today is cloudy, but we have had some very hot days, and yes, a sunset with those fleeting colours is nature at its finest moments. And yes,(again) one day we will get to that hill, it is about 30 minutes from our place, and sit and wait for that special photo.Greetings from Jean
The pictures should be made into postcards. I would mail them to a lot of friends:) Beautiful
Sometimes it feels as if we are chasing the light. What beautiful light you see from your house. Glorious...
I think that Thanksgiving may be my favorite holiday - a whole day devoted to being thankful if perfect. Indeed, I am thankful for your friendship.
I am surrounded on 3 sides by forest, so light filters out quickly as the sun sets. You've captured some dreamy colors in your photos!
Thanks Kathy,KB and Barb, I too am very thankful for your friendship, comments and emails.Today it is wet, windy and grey,so no photos, but I do so enjoy trying to find another aspect of our place, the sky or garden, when I look at others' photos on my blog, I am always so inspired, and love the beauty of the scenery in another country, and of other places.Greetings to all from Jean
Hi Jean! What a wonderful evening you have and very fine images you have taken of it. //Urban
Hi Urban, I read your blog and am amazed at the bird recovery and care program, in your other blog, this is so important. Do you think the wind turbine would be a danger? Here in NZ we have huge wind turbine farms, in a blog a few months ago I showed some photos and gave details in a comment. The one nearest to us is on a high ridge, and I am sure there is a lot of bird life there, with hawks probably the largest species. Thanks so much for your words. Cheers from Jean
Your sunset here are running the same colors as mine I mostly get when I do get on here in the valley. How soothing these can be.
