Remembrance Day, 11th November 2013

Some Red Poppies for all my dear friends in Canada, US,  or elsewhere, who have family members who served in the war.

11th November, 2013

Here in NZ, we celebrate our day on 25th April, called Anzac Day, to commemorate all  died while serving overseas , and to honour  returned servicemen and women. Sacrifices made by so many.

Remember those who are no longer here, honour those who are, and extend friendship, love, and family togetherness, specially on your day.

The Red,Red Poppy Ruffled Poppy Ruffled red poppy

Quotation of the day, from George  Farquhar,

Courage, an independent spark

from heaven's bright throne,

By which the soul stands raised,

triumphant, high, alone.

Greetings from Jean

Hi, I looked on Google, and it mentioned Canada and England, so I will edit the title to include US too. There would have been many events all over, tears, memories, and thoughts of those who served, suffered or were lost. Greetings, Jean,.

Hi Jean.
What beautiful Poppies you have! They are brilliant!
Isn't it funny how we think the whole world celebrates everything we do? I had no idea your 'day' was the 25 April.

This time of year here in Nova Scotia we can get what I call 'teaser snow' just enough to tell us and ready us for what is coming usually in late December and January, and February and maybe March!! lol Oh boy!
But we are ready for whatever comes our way and we don't plow/shovel any more either.
Have a wonderful Wednesday Jean.

Thanks for sharing. Of course every country is thankful to those who defend it. This was a good reminder of that

Well at least in your neck of the woods the famous poppy is blooming during the celebration here. I don't know why they chose that flower as I don't think you can even find one blooming in Canada for sure at this time of the year. Anyway yours certainly do add to the celebration to remember those who have served. Happy Weekend to you...
