Email problems with my unread mail

email box
For some peculiar ,unknown, and frightening  reason, my emails go from the unread box, to vanishing. The  Microsoft  man seemed to think it is  a peculiar problem, and after trying some of his magic tricks, suggested that I might like to pay $100, and if that didn’t work, $150, to fix this. I replied that this is Outlook 2010, and should be good for years!!!  Sorry, he said, it is out of warranty. What happened to that good old-fashioned “ I’ll fix it for you”?  I declined his costly suggestion. That is the frugal Scottish background coming through loud and clear!!So if you do not get a reply to  your  mail, or a comment is not published, do not fear, I hope to solve this tomorrow. I will post an OK, when all is fixed.
Quotation of the day, author unknown
“ I was told  there would be mail today, but after walking 500 yards  to the letter box, through the snow, in boots, parka, hat and gloves, three times, it had not arrived.
Maybe the mailman was snowed under”
Greetings from Jean

I do hope you get your email problems fixed. Computers can be such a dang hassle, but we can't seem to live without them can we?

Love and hugs to you and have a good week. ~ FlowerLady

That is strange Jean! Beyond my solving capabilities except to suggest opening a 'gmail' account.

Good luck and hope all is well soon.

Update!!! All solved, found a new answer on Google, open Outlook, go
to "view",
"Settings",
" reset current view",
click OK, and bingo, all fixed in a few seconds. Did the Microsoft man want to get some commission , if I had paid?? Cheers, Jean.

Hi Jean, I hope this gets resolved for you very soon! By the way, this is why I never use Outlook. I use a web based e-mail (GMail). :)

Hi, I do have Gmail, but prefer Outlook, at least I do have a back-up if it does ever go wrong again. It's so good to have normal transmission again. Cheers, Jean.

Why would you want to pay more for a problem the guy can't seem to fix? I'm almost afraid to say it, but I've had my Mac for 4 years and no problems so far! Hope your E-mail problems have an easy (and inexpensive) solution.

I am with you all the way! If it got messed up, there has gotta be a way to fix it without forking out money.
90% of my computer problems have been solved by my blogging friends.

That sounds fishy to me, Jean.
If it's a computer problem then a person can charge to fix it.
E-mail problems shouldn't have anything to do with your computer.
Can you access it from any other computer?

That computer guy's suggestion sounds fishy to me too! I hope you can sort it out easily. I hate computer problems :(

What a weird thing to have happen. Don't pay a dime. I do hope your problem resolves itself soon.

Glad to hear you are back in business and not missing anymore emails. As for me, I may not care so much if i lost some. I get a lot of junk.

I got taken by a so called "apple" site. All I had to do was reset my iPad to solve the problem and they had me jump through all these hoops first...probably just gathering information before they took my $$$$. Have also received several calls saying that I had trouble with my windows program and they could fix it. I ask them how they know I have a computer and call them hacks. Don't have windows! Ask them for their name and number and say you will call them back...You will find out that it does not work, as they know how to block their numbers. Lesson learned.
