Sea Breezes, Lapping Waves, and Fog

Yesterday Hugh suggested we have a few hours at a nearby beach, Waitarere, not too far to drive, had very comfortable chairs to sit on, and that water to look at, paddle in, so refreshing. Some swimmers, a lady with her little toddler on a surfboard, no photo of this, as by then the fog and mist rolled in right past the shoreline. This was our day.  Just click on the photo for a title.

A few sticks in the sand

A little house with no walls

The fog kept rolling in

Same place, with fog

West Coast sand, leading to the South-West Pacific Ocean

When we left, the fog rolled in, way past the shoreline, to  float over the land, Wellington Airport was closed once again, and we arrived home to 33 Celsius, no breeze, and ate cold watermelon on the back steps!!!

Quotation of the day, Anonymous,

“Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after

our footprints in the sand are washed away by the incoming tide”

Greetings from Jean

There's nothing better than Watermelon on a sweltering day!
At least you had a refreshing break for a wee while at the lake.

The beach looks lovely. It is a balmy -1C today, so I enjoyed the pictures a lot!

We get sea fog sometimes about a mile in from the water. Such a force of nature.

Beautiful blue ocean. I wished I were there to soak my feet in the sand.

More cold and rain on the way for us, and it makes me so envious of the beautiful day you had!

What a great day out - we have had drizzle or light rain for most of the week. Great not having to keep watering the garden but I am ready for some sunshine now.

Oh how absolutely lovely! The driftwood "sculptures" look so similar to what we build on our beach in the summer. Eating watermelon in February seems so odd, we are still drinking hot chocolate! What a great day out!

Beach looks fab.
Watermelon, yum oh. I always say it's not summer until I've had watermelon.

Hope you're feeling better

Thank you all, it was a lovely quiet restful time, just to sit and hear the waves, and watch the water, Sometimes nature provides all you need to restore inner peace and comfort. I did a short video but there was too much wind noise, next time will need to try and muffle that. Cheers, Jean.

What a beautiful day this sounds like it has been! Love the beach photos. It makes me miss the times when our children were small and we would take a trip to the beach every year.
