Garden Goodies

Yellow Submarine Tomatoes 2013

This year I have grown most of our vegetable plants from seed, and am so happy with the results.

Garden produce

The courgettes have surpassed my wildest dreams, leave them for a day, and WOW, there are marrows under the massive leaves.

In the lower right hand bed, are butter beans. Crammed  together, but producing a huge basin full each day,. The scarlet runner plants are a lot slower.

Vege garden

Quotation  of the day from David Bly

“ Striving for success without hard work

is like trying to harvest where you haven’t planted”

Greetings from Jean

Linda, look closely with magnifying lenses, plenty of weeds everywhere. Thanks for lovely comments, we do like our own veges, but from seed, they seem to grow all at the same time, I have not managed to do successive planting very well this year.So from "None to too many "in a few weeks, but great to be able to give away.Yes, our summer, but suddenly the early mornings are darker, signs of autumn in January?? Cheers to all, from Jean.

What a wonderful garden. You obviously put a lot of work into it.

Impressive and beautiful garden-it's huge! I'm jealous as we have no place to have a garden. It looks so yum!

Jean,I love your raised beds! And everything looks so lush too! Those stringed beans and runners are one of my favourites.
We only plant a couple of veggies as the trees we planted 20 years ago are shading in our garden now.....so our garden had changed over the years.

Your garden is magazine worthy! Absolutely beautiful!

Thank you all, but a closer look will show lots and LOTS of weeds, not so much in the vege plots, but everywhere else. I have huge heaps of mulch to cover any ground daring to grow other than a proper plant.Lovely compliments from Brent and James( Mandaburms' Men ) when they called in after collecting Leanne's outdoor bathroom furniture!!! Thank you . Hugh was chuffed at your words. No H&G show place, I cannot seem to manage the rotation program so when one lot is finished another planting of flowers has started to bloom .Never mind, always another year to perfect that skill. Greetings from Jean.

Though I am not a gardener by any means I really hope I'll have a vegetable garden someday. It just seems to basic to say that you are eating your own vegetables!!! Your tomatoes look lovely.

Hi Tanya, we do not have to buy and veges right now, the freezer is filling fast with brocolli, cauliflower, carrots, runner and butter beans. Thornless blackberry for jelly later on, and the small tomatoes, they are so tasty. Cheers from Jean.

What great raised beds, Jean. Do you freeze or can the leftover produce? So lucky to have your own source of veggies!

Nancy J said...

Hi Barb, we freeze the surplus, and already have so much ready for the wintertime. The raised beds were already here when we moved, and make gardening a whole lot easier. Greetings from Jean

Wonderful quote, Jean! It applies to more than just a 'garden', doesn't it?

Thank you all for lovely comments, when I began blogging they were very few and very far between, these days I am so happy and thrilled to see your words, and welcome to new readers. My interests are widening, my life is so much richer, maybe not in monetary value, but with friends all over.Yes, the garden is thriving, with lots of watering every day, eating, cooking, and freezing.Flowers are drooping in the heat, about 28C to over 30C for some time now.And I droop too!!! Greetings to all from Jean.
