This morning dawned dull, cloudy, and a light drizzle. No sparkling sunrise to greet 2013. This evening showed these beautiful shades of pale smoky blue/cream/ grey, in the West, and in the South-East, streaks of gold against the deeper blue of the night.
This was taken by our back fence, looking South-East. Streaks of gold, lasting for several minutes, then all gone to leave deep blue/black.
A perfect end to the beginning of a New Year.
The second brave Gladioli to bloom, rescued from wind and rain.
Quotation of the day, from Edith Lovejoy Pierce
“ We will open the book. Its pages are blank.
We are going to put words on them ourselves.
The Book is called Opportunity
and its first chapter is New Year’s Day”
Greetings from Jean

Beautiful day...here has the snow gone in our garden
We had very windy and warm during the night.
Did you ever consider a job in weather reporting. I love how you describe the sky : ) Happy New Year Jean. I look forward to your friendship in 2013.
A good way to end the first day of the new year! Very peaceful. May you have many more sunsets like this!
Love the quote, and am glad you had a beautiful end after a yucky beginning. Wishing you a new year filled with good times and wordless beauty.
Very beautiful pictures and quote as well.
