Flowers for My Mum

Flowers for Mum

Happy Mother’s Day , Mum.

I wish you were here to celebrate this day with me, I was born on your birthday, we shared such a special bond. Way too soon, you left us, and nothing fills the huge gap.

You are smiling with much happiness , 17th February, 1962.

Grace, My mum on our wedding day, 1962

A few lines ,  from  one of your favourites,

“Bridge over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel

“When you’re weary, feeling small,

When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all”

Greetings from Jean

My mum left us in 1969, as you say much too soon and nothing has ever filled that empty space. With my never having children of my own makes for a rather sad day.

How special is this Jean!! I remember that song like it was yesterday. I can remember dancing slowly to the song at a dance in Grade 10...so much fun!
Happy Mother's Day!!

Jean - your mother got a very special gift on her birthday! This is a lovely remembrance. That song is one of my favorites - we just played it on our recent trip. Hugs to you! Happy Mothers Day.

A beautiful post. You never get over missing your Mom, do you? I know I haven't and don't know that I will.

Thanks, all, for your comforting words, yes, we don't ever get over our loss, and this year for maybe the first time on Mother's Day, I had tears for my Mum,realising how very much I miss her.Kim, the loss is easier with the years, but the hole is never filled to the same level, ever.Greetings, from Jean.

That photo of your mum was taken the day I was born. I too lost mum too soon I was only 17, now older than she was, a weird feeling. Mothers day is always a tough time, but gets better with the years.
