Words for those further North

I think of all my dear friends in the Northern Hemisphere, your autumn in full swing, winter approaching, with colder days, snow, frozen water troughs, gardens frosted to solid  icicles, fires and central heating all ready to go, at the first really cold day or night.  Your  leaves  are turning  golden, the sun starts to rise later every day,   and temperatures fall, glorious colours in the sky as the crisp cold defines them brilliantly. Stay safe and warm in your winter, as we have spring blossoms, bulbs flowering,   and trees with new green leaves , buds and flowers.

Autumn trees at our place, June 2011Autumn trees

Some words from John Keats,

one of my dear friend Walter’s favourite poets

To Autumn

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
      Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
   With fruit the vines that

round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
   And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
      To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
   With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
      For Summer has o'er-brimm'd

their clammy cells.

Quotation of the day, from Jim Bishop

“ Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons”

Greetings from Jean

Hi all, we are having rain today, but warmer mornings, and some lovely skies. I think Fall in your Northern Hemisphere is a beautiful time, and with such colder temperatures, deeper shades in leaves as they turn gold. Stay safe, fond greetings from Jean.

How sweet of you Jean to think of us here 'up north'! It is exactly as you described it....turning leaves, cooler nights, and the freshest of air...at least in Nova Scotia that is.
I know you are enjoying your spring now and rightly so...after a long winter.
